I create this topic to join together all the notices about the bad things of Civ4, that they be objective or more subjective. (THAT DESERVE TO BE IMPROVED/REMOVED!!)

1. I hate: combat when 2 remaining hp units lose against one only HP unit, this may happen but not that often!

2. When I want to select a stack of units, I don't want to take the units that need healing: so I have to renounce to the stack function and move them one by one! this slows down the game! Stack command should not move the units that need healing!

3. The overall view. Why can't I access to the cities and the units in this view? Dragging all the map at a slow speed in quite boring as it is, I would have wanted some more easy way to deal with this. Why not to replace all the stuff by icons if 3D is not possible?

For number 2, you can select your stack and then shift-click the wounded units to manually remove them. It's not as automatic as you might like, but it's still better than one at a time ;)

1). Combat - opponents' HPs are shown, but not mine. Whether you lose or win depends upon how lucky you are: a win is possible if the odds are only 2% in your favour, as is a loss at 100% odds on.
2). I agree. Units which are fortified, for healing or defence, should need specific selection to wake up. Why can armour fortify for healing but not otherwise (though not qualifying for the defence bonus) ? Sleeping units, as now, would wake on group selection.
3) No comment.
I'd like to add (4) bring back the red circles on city screens, to indicate clearly which tiles cannot be worked by that city.

Yes! 3D clearly didn't work. I know that a lot of games reviewers were expecting a 3D civ, but it doesn't add anything to gameplay. Someone else here pointed out that the game might be truly spectacular if they had spent all the time they spent on 3D instead working on more gameplay.
If I want to admire artwork I'll blow up some pictures into posters or buy some paintings. I wanted a game, and of course the imagery involved is part of it, but Civ 3 graphics were completely adequate. The only point in going 3D is if we have terrain elevation (again an idea I've stolen off someone else).
Given how many problems people have had I think they must have made Civ 4 for top-end computers and forgotten that a lot of people like games but don't have a super machine.

I don't like the UN and Emancipation mechanisms. Let's encourage player creativity in civics, rather than discourage it...

I would prefer that the UN was not all or nothing...You should have the option of not accepting the UN resolution, and suffer the diplomatic penalty, and probably suffer a loss of trade, and a possible UN Peace Keeping mission from other nations. This would add even more fun to the late game.

I get irritated everytime I am forced to retire my whip, and accept emancipation! (good job. nice feature)

What happens to UN options if you raze the city the UN was built in?

To get back on topic: my biggest beef with CivIV is that the scoring system sucks big time. Little credit is given for playing a long and carefully crafted game where you build the largest, strongest and most cultured civ on the planet. Instead, the largest scores go to the player who builds a few more 'men with sharp sticks' than his neighbour and succeeds in taking out a couple of poorly defended cities a few hundred years into the game. This bias is pathetic. :shakehead

One of my problems with the game is how a longbowman can kill a infantry easily.

Also I think that some units should last longer. I mean some UU's are useless because their outdated so quickly.

I don't like the AI getting friendly with other AIs or trading their techs like if it was cheap knowledge and whenever you want a piece it costs so much.

I don't like naval combats, it's really boring. As for many players, I hate the indirect combats (catapults and so on).

NOt enough leader traits as well and they should put some kind of war leaders (GL)

Enough about units beating other units. Combat is a numbers game and each unit has advantages to fill a role. The icons are placed over those numbers to give the impression that you have a military.

Speaking of maps, another thing I'd like to see is true spherical maps, and the ability to cross latitudinal hemispheres over the poles. And while I'm at it, torus-shaped map space would be pretty interesting too!

The biggest gripe I have with this game is that the more I play it, the more I feel the model they've created is only accurate for the ancient eras. The way things work in Civ4 are very similar to the way things actually worked in ancient civilizations--but have almost no resemblence to our world since. My neighbor trades me wheat, but I can't plant it and grow it myself? Give me a break!

Moderator Action: General Warning! This thread is for Civ4 "Bad Things". If you want to discuss Evolution vs. Intelligent Design, vs the Bible, etc. Go to Off Topic.
Please read the forum rules: http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=422889

And I deleted about 30 posts that were Off-Topic, for good measure.

I really hate the way that the game assigns specialists when pop grows.
espicially when it adds a priest even though the city is starving.

I hate the kill ratio for ships! Why in 3 games have i only killed one AI frigate with one of my frigates on the first battle?? The kill ratio would be about 1/100! I always need 2 frigates to kill one of theirs. Even when i manage to get 30 points worth of strength up, i will still loose no matter what. No better for other classes of ships either. I cannot believe this is just bad luck on my part? Also i noticed one of their frigates withstood an attack from one of my distroyers (at full strength) but when i tried to see how many of my frigates it would take to kill an AI destroyer, well i ran out after it survived the twelth frigate. This is just stupid honestly.

1) I hate the navy in Civ4
2) I hate diplomacy in Civ4 (is there even such thing in the game?)
3) I hate the way nukes are handled

These would be my biggest let downs

It's really foolish that archers can beat a tank

Not really. It can only realistically happen if the tank is badly damaged in the first place, and there probably are real-life equivalents, eg. a mob climbing on a tank and someone getting lucky and managing to force his way inside and kill the crew.
