[R&F] Based on the new features - which civilizations and leaders should be introduced in R&F?

Here's my revised guesses for the Expansion Civs:

Confirmed:
1. Korea (Seondeok)
2. Netherlands (Wilhelmina)
Unconfirmed (Firaxis employees are probably laughing at my guesses:p) :
3. Georgia (Tamar)-Georgian soldiers are defending against the Mongol invasion
4. Mongolia (Kublai Khan)-apparently seen fighting Georgian soldiers
5. Italy (Lorenzo de Medici)-Plague doctor scene could be hinting at them
6. Portugal (Joao II)-exploring ship scene could be hinting at them
7. Inca (Huayna Capac)- no hints towards them, but we need another Amerindian Civ
8. Mali (Mansa Musa) -no hints towards an African Civ in the trailer, but perhaps one will make it into the game

I'm kinda certain about Georgia and Mongolia, but Italy, Portugal, Inca, and Mali could be completely wrong.

The Alt leader will either be for America or for a European Civ (England, Germany, France, Spain, Russia). And they are likely to be female.

@Guandao, I think we're going to see something similar to this, I would just replace Mali for Kilwa, which I think is more likely. And I would replace Portugal with a North American civ.

The sailing ships could be pointing at Isabella for all we know.

Perhaps if the alternate leader is for Rome and knowing this is a female leader-focused expansion I would place my guess is it would be a Roman Empress that would fit the expansion's mechanics but I would expect the alt leader to most likely be Isabella.

I really think Kilwa is unlikely, due to the lack of information on their leaders. It's not really the African Civ I want for this expansion either. :p West Africa needs some love.

Also just because Kilwa Kisiwani is a Wonder in this expansion automatically means Kilwa is being added as a Civ. That only made sense for a DLC Civ. In the base game, we have Chichen Itza but no Maya, Great Zimbabwe without Zimbabwe.

I would rather have Mali instead of Kilwa, but for now there are no signs that Mali will be included, while Kilwa at least has a wonder to support it. I know that including a wonder does't guarantee that its civ will be in the game (Petra is in and we never had Nabataeans), but I think the possibilities are on the table.

That's a very Eurocentric list if you count Georgia as European.;) I still like it anyway. If both Mali and Italy are in it I honesty don't care what the others will be, I'm buying it.:D Watch the alternate leader turn out to be Catherine the Great that deals with the Ages system.

My hope is that one resource turns out to be gold and not amber.

For me, I think the possibility is less likely. Once again, none of their leaders stands out as a "big personality" due to such little surviving info.
If they are added, I'll be left wondering why Firaxis is so focused on East Africa (but didn't add Ethiopia), and ignoring West Africa. :crazyeye:

Wouldn’t it be great if tomorrow we get a hint on Tamar rather than Wilhelmina considering we’ve gotten news of her already? I mean, Firaxis must be doing this new marketing strategy. I would not think that two weeks in a row getting ‘leaks’ is a coincidence.

Well, there was a time I thought Ashanti might be quite likely because of Yaa Asantewaa, but I do not know if she fits into any of the new mechanisms.

Releasing a First Look video on Tamar this coming Tuesday would be strange, since Wilhelmina hasn't gotten one. I'm almost certain this Tuesday's video will be about Netherlands.

@Xandinho, we don't know if every Civ/leader will deal with the expansion mechanics. How do you think Kilwa would fit the mechanics?

It never was confirmed that it would be the Dutch this Tuesday. Would also gladly take a teaser with a golden nugget, salt mines, caravan, and a mud mosque.

Of course we will see Whilhemina. But wouldn’t it be fun? Come on Firaxis! Release two this week. We already know what’s coming down the Expansion pipeline. Or, surprise us!

That will leave us two weeks without a First Look video. :p I actually would have liked it if they revealed the Expansion just two weeks before release. And just dumped a bunch of First Look videos during those two weeks. Now we must wait....

I don’t know how it was for Civ V’s expansions, but it looks and feels to me that they have gone out of their way to give a lot of information, first on the Expansion announcement video, then with Civ teases and hints galore on Twitter, etc., and with the early releases of info in the country of the Civ being announced. Add to that the surprising, to me and many others, wonder video confirming one of the wonders we’ve spent so much time, research and speculation. Why not keep us guessing? It seems that they’re bending over backwards to keep the discussion going with so many hints and leaks, etc. It hasn’t been like that for DLC’s, for sure, nor for the vanilla release. So, what’s up with them? New people at helm or overall strategy from day one?

True, not all leaders/civs need to fit into the new mechanisms, Kilwa would probably be a mercantile civ. But I still think the African civ will be one never seen before (Ashanti or Kilwa), I do not see evidence that Mali or Ethiopia will be added.
