[R&F] Based on the new features - which civilizations and leaders should be introduced in R&F?

No i don't want Scotland / Ireland / Brittany, just Celts (or Gauls, Iceni or a real tribe name from back then). A multileader Celts civ would also be nice (but then we will get complains that the game is once again too Eurocentric).

Portugal, Byzantines, Celts, Italy, Ottomans, Babylon, Mali, Ethiopia, Zulu, Inca, Maya, Mongolia, Gran Colombia 1 North American Tribe. That's four European slots taken up and I still wanted Austria and Sweden eventually.
I don't know where the number fourteen came up but if this is the case we will need more. And besides Civ 4 had like 34 civs compared to 43 for Civ 5. Following this pattern we should get close to 50 this time around making room for many more including Polynesia.

I can't belive that the Celts "deserve" inclusion above most of the others in your list.

That was in no particular order and I just bolded the European ones first. I also realized I missed Carthage.
If anything I want Mali and Italy because many of the ones I listed I know we will get eventually.

They just need to do the right Carthage - focused on exploration, colonization and trade led by Mago I or someone similar. I don‘t want the freaks (Dido, Hannibal) again. Phoenicia has a leader problem, it‘s hard to come up with something even for Hiram.

So would I actually, but unfortunately there is not much to go on leader wise. As much as I would rather leaving it a city-state for Phoenicia, Carthage might be the closest thing to Phoenicia we can get.
As for Carthage though I don't know who I would replace it with that list of 14 though.

She reigned for 32 years and oversaw the successful maintenance of both sovereign control and religious control of Madagascar in the face of strong imperial pressure in the 19th century. A maritime Civ from southern Africa would be ideal.

I advocated for her during the run-up to the summer DLC. She is the opposite of Mvemba in every way. It would be really cool.

Well, did we see 8 civs in the trailer? And if so, I would be sad since there is no Africa or Meso/South America in the trailer.

We need the third expansion. That's clear to include Polynesia, Carthage, Hungary, Mughals, Madagascar, Navajo or Shawnee, Argentina, Sweden and Assyria, and three alternates (China, Egypt and Russia).

I don‘t think a third (or even a second) expansion is needed only to include civs. This can be done in a better way with small DLCs. If they improve the game, add new mechanics etc. without cluttering the game, they can make as many expansions as they want. My feeling right now is that R&F will include so much that two more expansion seem a big risk to lose many casuals since the game will be too complex.

3. Mongolia (likely given the teaser for tomorrow, possibly dashing my hopes for a Timurid civilization anytime soon)

My hopes/guesses:

4. Inca - probably the most politically and technologically sophisticated when Europeans first arrived (alternatively, Gran Colombia/Venezuela/Bolivia could be an interesting alternative for a more recent nation-state, and Simon Bolivar is long overdue to appear as a leader in Civ)
5. Native American civ (Iroquois make a lot of sense, other than from a TSL perspective; Pueblo would be interesting; Inuit would be really awesome surprise)
6. Songhai/Mali/Ghana (likely Mali with Mansa Musa)
7. Madagascar - Ranavalona
8. Georgia - Tamar

This would cover a good geographic spread, with half the civilizations having female leaders.

I would be sad too.
But we saw the age of exploration. I hope for the Incas and Isabella for Spain.

I've been thinking on the two scenes in the trailer, one where the father dies of plague and hands a message to the daughter, then where the daughter is commanding a ship in a storm.

We really haven't been considering that those two scenes might be connected. So I've been thinking about what explorer could have set out after his/her father died of the plague.

I don't have any fully positive connections, but Vasco de Gama stands out. His father Estavio was originally supposed to lead the fleet around Africa to India, but he died before it could set sail and Vasco lead the expedition in his place. It could mean Portugal after all. The ships are similar to what Portugal would have been using at that time, and certainly not similar to later-Renaissance Dutch ships.

Anyone have any other ideas?

Well looking at last year DLC released ratio , and there is prob another expanssion coming after Rise and Fall , I doubt Firaxis will release just 14 Civs. Ofc Alt leaders is an option..
