Battlefield 3

Well after putting a few more days into the beta and getting over the bugs. I can easily say this game will blow BC2 away. I don't even have words for how good this game is. The only thing it's missing is conquest because rush is not nearly as good a gamemode.

From what I've seen, it's probably going to be well worth it getting the game for me. I'm only worried about the specs though, so I'm still going to wait for a bit.

The current build is 2 and a half months old a lot of things will be changed.

They need to work 24/7 to fix that. There are a lot of issues. And less than a month 'till release. Servers are already hacked to support 128 players. And if rumors don't lie - there are even 250 player maps. Also they need to rethink some..."design decisions"... like battlelog and squad management.

Battlelog actually works really well, once you have it set up and get over the initial "WTH is this?" phase.

Hopefully they will fix the bugs and glitches (and there are a lot of them, and a lot of them are quite major ones too), but at least the beta seems to be very well optimized (at least I'm running it on high with no framerate problems at all).

I just spent the entire day today trying to get this beta to install. I've downloaded it, but Origin is a terrible client and buggy as hell, since it wouldn't let me install the game. After like 4 hours of searching for solutions, I came upon one that said you needed IE9 in order to install the game for some reason. I have no idea why, but whatever. The thing is, IE9 won't install, and I tried to install it for 6 hours

Battlefield, why are you need IE9 to play?

You don't need IE9. I have IE8 (which I used once to download a real browser) and it worked without any problems. Download Origin, go to store tab, go to free games, click on BF3 beta, download, install, ???, profit. This isn't even highschool science.

Just kidding. Already retired all of my COD games. Not looking for another same thing.

Of course where am I going to get my FPS fix? It sure isn't going to be this one...

Can it run on a GeForce GTX 590 (direct x11) with a Frame Per Sec any higher than ... ahem.. *cough* 35? 2007 was a long time ago, son!

Yes actually if I decided to mod my Xbox, but because for stupid reasons hardware mods are an insta-ban offense so I won't do it. Still I don't need to waste resources on a crappy OS such as Vista or 7 and a browser too. Plus I'll have both versions of the game in December so I get the best of both worlds :p

Windows 7 is anything but crappy, and if you can run the game well you'll have enough RAM that the small amount running Chrome or Firefox and Battlelog takes up is negligible. Also, even if you somehow added a GTX 590 to an x-box you'd have to upgrade the rest of it and you'd just end up with a PC inside an x-box case :p

EDIT a fairly accurate analysis of Metro I found on teh interwebz:

Spoiler :

Apparently I am doing the MCOMs in the wrong order as I usually disarm A first.

That is a really accurate map.

I'm annoyed with the rank/level up system, seems a little lopsided. My support has all the points but I'm playing all the classes equally. And while I may be doing better on the Support class I shouldn't be like 5 ranks up on all the others

I have only played Assault Medic and Support so far, and both of them have something that rakes in a lot of points (health pack, chest paddles for medic and ammo pack for support). I don't think engie does and recons are just useless lone wolves.

Spawn beacon and semi-automatic SR are crucial for a successful assault without taking a ton of casualties on Metro, so I don't think Recons are useless.

I really hate the kick on most guns so far. It makes anything other than single fire a waste of time for accuracy. Damage isn't high enough. I should have to shoot you 4 times with an SVD to kill you.

I have no idea how you could possibly have these opinions. The guns don't have much kick at all compared to many other shooters. The damage is higher then BC2 thanks to both intentional design decisions and a bug that when someone is moving they take increased damage.

If you looking for overpowered one-shot kill snipers then go to CoD. Because Recons and their pansy weapons need to be weak for balance.
