Battlefield 3

BF2 only had the Gulf of Oman as a beta map, IIRC. Turned out to be an epic game with only one general game mode.

In my opinion only 2 sets of the M-Com stations are defendable. The first one and the 3rd one. Now the first one may not look defendable but those bushes and rocks provide a lot of cover. And 3rd one, defenders spawn is practically right ontop of it, and the stairs, especially the escalator is a death trap.

The last set of stations though is the hardest to defend, once the opposing forces are in the buildings your done for.

The weapons need balancing, same with the grenades. But the thing that needs to be fixed the most(in my opinion) are the flashlights. One little flash and your blinded even if your outdoors and 30 feet away.

Got into Caspian Border test servers, they seem to be intentionally leaking the passwords. Bloody hard to get in as they are all full all the time, but a bit of join spamming and you eventually get lucky.

It's pretty epic. You definitely get that BF2 feeling and more. Love the destructible environments, sometimes it feels like all hell is raining down on you when you have choppers, tanks/vehicles and airplanes all consentrating fire in one place. Not to mention the map is like a visual orgasm in itself.

Getting a good deal of graphical bugs though, especially when zoomed in scope my FPS drops from 50-70 to 30-40 but looks like 10-20 and get flashing textures and black lines flickering on the screen. This is not a problem on metro but sometimes I see similar things but much reduced.

All maxed out settings, I love my new rig.

The fact that Caspian Border was included in the beta file would suggest that it will also be part of the open beta.

Wouldn't it be possible to just not start BF3 from origin or desktop, log in on battlelog in chrome, then when you join a server it starts origin and the game automatically?

Yes, yes it is. Played a couple of rounds, though I felt somewhat lost. Very fast paced action on Metro but the game seems pretty good so far. Ambience doesn't seem right though, seems quite quiet. I don't hear bullets hitting the area around me or even hitting me (whenever I die it feels very random, I literally just keel over dead).

I told you about the sound issues :p

Why is Metro so...underwhelming? I just can't put my finger on it. The subway section is definitely a repetitive series of hallways. But even the above-ground sections seem terrible.

Thank you for testing Caspian Border

It´s been 3 days full of win!
Thank you everyone who participated in testing Caspian Border with us during the Open Beta. We of course cherish and appreciate the time you have put into supplying is with good feedback. We will of course read it through and discuss it internally.

Testing has now been completed and we are shutting down the Caspian Border servers.
:(

So now it's just boring old metro...

Having just a small map without vehicles or airplanes in rush mode won't exactly give potential customers the impression this is a successor to BF2. I get it's a beta and for testing, but it doesnt really seem like there are many issues on that map that haven't been pointed out a thousand times already....

After playing the same map for a few hours, I think that uat2d is already right. It doesn't seem to me that there is anything "new" here. I know it is a beta, and I know it is only one map, but tell me, what is so frickin new about this? Hype after hype is all what it is.

Gonna go to COD MW3 instead. :crazyeye:

And about the Origin, I don't trust it too. That is why it is best to play these games on a computer that doesn't have all your personal stuff in it. That is why I got two for that reason.

Someone on the Internet acknowledged my existence and helped me validating my claims, I can die a happy man now!

Link to video.

Dude, NOOOOO! That totally beats the purpose! That is the pinnacle of hype and marketing selling a game rather than actually gameplay (which will be more of the same)!

A bad buggy beta is still better than no public beta at all!!!

Are you frelling kidding me? What the bloody hell DICE. Give us the god damn conquest mode that is the main reason why I am considering buying your game.

Rush, and it is the same map they had for the alpha so it actually makes sense considering it is a beta.

They also have massive optimization issues to work out with Caspian and their larger servers anyway.

I don't think the map is small, infact probably a good sized map for a non-vehicle round. But I do wonder just how big the other ones are, Jets and all.
