Battlefield 3

Heli HUD labeled, no one still understands what the mini-map means.

It shows locations fine yes, but it doesn't show the map very well and depending what colours/textures it is over top of the visibility and clarity of the mini-map is often compromised.

The HUD looks pretty awesome. Im guessing the lower left minimap is a rough abstract of terrain (mountain peak to NE?, next to a river bed, urban terrain versus normal terrain), friend and foe, and comms (like attack the lazzed tank here). I'm guessing the little highlighted squares are attack/defend orders.

It's just as problematic on the ground. I can still use it, but it certainly is not exactly the best design for a mini-map.

Hardcore mode will remove the need for a broken minimap. :3 I feel sorry for you PC users, if you ever have to get a used copy that is.

Vehichles, objectives and players are well defined, but that's it. It shows "buildings" as a light blue (in the heli screenshot that is actually tarmac and/or roads for the air field). I pretty much ended up ignoring it, and the compass underneath is useless since it only has 4 directions and there isn't a way to tell the others very easily (unlike in Project Reality for BF2 where the compass is well done and incredibly useful).

And it looks like total garbage. Brave usa soldiers fight agains bad russians and bad arabs. How cool and totally not cliche. Add some more scripted events and there we have it... CoD campaign on Frostbite 2.0.
