This may have been covered, but there is no way I am sifting through all the spam to find it. Has anyone encountered problems with random shutdowns while running F@H? I had never had that happen on this computer before, and since installing and starting to run F@H a few weeks ago, I have had some problems with my computer randomly turning off. I set F@H to only run while screensaver was on, without any problems, and then switched back to having it always in the background, and now I am getting random shutdowns again. There are extra variables out there, so I am not sure if there is any connection, so I am wondering if this has happened to anyone else. If not, I just need to do some troubleshooting and figure out exactly what is happening.

I haven't had any random shutdowns, but I do have machines that run pretty hot as a result of 100% CPU utilization - could it be that your computer is getting hot enough to trip an automatic shutdown as it would do if (say) your CPU fan failed?

Well, now I'm quite curious.

What's your ulterior motive here?

As far as participating in Folding@Home, no different motive than anyone else - I just want to help in whatever small way to find a cure for cancer.

But "becoming a marketing droid" was funny given my interest in ASFR - you'll have to google it, because just about any links I post will probably get me modded to a smoking hole in the ground.

this folding@home thing ****ed up my comp as soon as windows started my pc would turn off

Crashes and shutdowns may well be related to cpu getting too hot.

I think I notice a slightly more instable system when running F@H along with heavy apps, although I'm not sure because my system is already rather unstable.

Well i run f@h constantly and dont really have a very good comupter and i havnt noticed any shutdowns.

I close down F@H when I play games. Every millisecond counts to the hardcore gamer.

That was a thought that crossed my mind, actually. Maybe I'll just drop it to 80% for a while and see how that works.

Augh! This looks too confusing! The installation is scaring me off. Please aid me, I wish to help this *noble* cause.

Its pretty self explanatory, once you get the installation process going the program just takes over, then kablooey, your done. Then just pick a name for yourself and put in the team number in the correct box (47958).

according to Overclocking we are now at rank 600 [party]

Wheres Soph gone? We need some science in here!

I don't understand.. I finished a monster unit after having been on another team for a while, and the team number is correct for the CFC team, but I didn't get any credit. Not sure what happened..

How long ago was it. It may take time.

Or they just may not have given you credit, that has happened to me before on a different team.

Hooray!:)
I've got it installed, I'll try running it as much as possible.;)
