beer philosophy

"If you're going to mix anything with vodka it should be kahlua, Tia Maria is a poor imitation."

Subjective.
I remember once drinking vodka with russians, They would hold up the bottle to offer a drink. I would hold up my glass, and they filled it to the top, theirs too. AMAZING. This process was repeated several times through the course of an evening. no mixers, no ice, no nonsence. We didn't speak the same language, but managed to laugh a lot together.

In my hey-days as a bartender, I could polish off a half liter of tequila with little trouble.

Ofcourse, that may explain why I need a stomach transplant.

Of course, straight vodka is very good (if served cold), I was just saying if you were to mix it, then kahlua would be a goer. Unfortunately I haven't tried tia maria, so I can't offer an opinion on that one. But in any case, I would imagine ANYTHING would be better with vodka than fanta. Sounds like some dodgy form of UDL, and a girl's drink to boot (of course if you were a girl then that would be ok i guess).

Drink real vodka with russians, then you'll learn how little you can truly drink.

PS. 'Real' vodka is brown.
i thought vodka was just not-seasoned spirits made of potatoes and is colourless. i've never heard of brown vodka even if i am from northern sweden with the "culture" we have. i wonder what you got. where there three happy guys on the label? i've been advised to avoid that kind...

vodka and schweppes russian is a combo i like. absolut kurrant and sprite does also work fine in small dozes.

the strongest i've drunk was half a litre 60% "home made" a midsummer might a couple of years ago.

The best quality vodka is much the same colour as bourbon. The best vodkas come from Poland and Russia. Try Starka, it's Polish. I can't recall the Russian vodka I've tried, I'll try and get you some brands.

EDIT: There is a Starka brand in Russia, I've never tried it and don't know where you'd get hold of it.

it seems like it exist. i'll try it if i get the opportunity.

do you know how it gets the colour? i did a little research on google and i found that it maybe comes from that the vodka is made from grain, but i'm not sure.

Proper, ie. Russian, vodka is made from rye, same as bourbon.

You can get good quality clear (russian) vodka, it has just been filtered.

Vodka is a bit like champagne, the only true champagne comes from the champagne region of France, the only true vodka comes from Russia.

Try authentic spiced vodka, that's a taste sensation. Good quality vodka costs money, it's like good quality.........anything.

...you're not drunk if you can lie on the floor without holding on.

By that definition I've only been drunk once, halfway up a mountain at 8500ft.

i hope you don't have a car, stormerne ;)

The color most probably comes from the barrel, just like Bourbon gets its color. Most vodkas are not matured in barrels, so they remain clear. I would also suspect much of the color is thanks to caramel color.
