Berserks01 - Space Monkies

Yeah. Rex is probably on hiatus reading Harry Potter :p

We should definitely declare on MM. Just a phony war will do.
We would had lost our DP with JC if we did. So I didn't and guess what, MM made peace with everybody on next turn...

Hmm ... interesting island Let's prepare an infantry and galleon and check the "horrors that haunt banana island" out.
Roger that.

My fellow (space) monkies, the space race seems to be started, and not we discovered Rocketry 1st, but Peter. The actions in chronological order:
Traded Electricity for RR and Biol.

monkeys39.JPG

Started RRing the important tiles first. The log doesn't reflect it, but our IW city, B2 started Apollo project.
Nice, but we can't keep it without more
monkeys40.JPG

Broadway came in and we got some gpt for musicals.

The expedition forces are on the way.
monkeys44.JPG

We have a few obsolete units, I would recommend to disband some (eg. chariot, axe, cata) to save gpt.
monkeys45.JPG

JC ready to trade Combustion for Rocketry, but not for Assl. Line.
If we don't accept it, he may trade with Peter instead. And maybe we should collect Mao's and Khan's money.

The save

Nice job trading there, Negy :goodjob:

Roster
GreyFox – how is he swinging on those broken branches???
Berserks01 – swung for the ship again
Rex Tyrannus – swung into a book
Negyvenketto – always swing with finesse
Lucky 1972 – ready for a wild swing?

I notice everyone is in Free Market and we are still in Mercantilism. I spend a lot of time thinking and doing some calculations and I can`t see how 8 specialists can compensate us for the huge commerce we could get from trade routes. So I decided to revolt to State Property (I checked our cities and, surprisingly, most of our maintenance costs are due to distance from palace, and we will need more workshops anyway). Here is our financial situation before the change:

Civ4ScreenShot0004.jpg

And after:

Civ4ScreenShot0010.jpg

The decrease on the treasure is from the trades below. Notice the significant increase in our research rate.

Of course, the trade routes also helped some of our adversaries, but not as much as it helped us. This GNP graph is from my last turn:

Civ4ScreenShot0000.jpg

Please note that Han built a shrine the very same turn we came out of anarchy, and even so our gnp increase was considerably higher.

Civ4ScreenShot0011.jpg

I made some trades in the line negy suggested:

Civ4ScreenShot0006.jpg

Civ4ScreenShot0007.jpg

Civ4ScreenShot0008.jpg

As soon as we got oil hooked, I started some tanks.

We finally see some of the horrors of Banana Island:

Civ4ScreenShot0013.jpg

 A modern armor with a banana hat!!

we suicide a infantry to look into the city:

Civ4ScreenShot0014.jpg

Civ4ScreenShot0015.jpg

I've seen only two MA, but my exploring was bad, I never had all the tiles visible during the same turn, so there may be more (I guess at most 4). I guess we can take this city with some artillery (better yet - air force) and tanks, if we want to. I say we do want to, we`re monkeys, are we not?

GK came with a demand:

Civ4ScreenShot0018.jpg

Did you notice he`s now cautious? not good. I agreed, of course, and we took a small financial blow, as well as began having some happiness problems and a little more health problems.

Next turn I thought we better keep GK busy while he doesn`t have his hands full. He is willing to declare on Han, I check the price: electricity. Not bad, right? But maybe it`s better to bribe him against Peter... I check, and the price is the same. I wonder what would he want to war BOTH of them...

Civ4ScreenShot0021.jpg

Done! He even gave us money, and not only that...

Civ4ScreenShot0022.jpg

He is now pleased! (no modifiers, I am not sure what exactly happened).

We can now start building our space ship:

Civ4ScreenShot0025.jpg

I made a mistake and hit enter at the end of turn 10, sorry for that. I left everything unmoved. We just researched computers and I chose satelites for the elevator.

Finally, for GreyFox`s delight, we got another Great Artist. He is sleeping in our GP warehouse with the others, I guess we will use them for Golden Ages.

I know it was an important turnset, so please fell free to comment on anything you want.

Nice work, Lucky.

That banana city looks like a tough nut to crack, but we crack it we will. Even if it means knocking our empty skulls together to do!!

If Fox doesn't grab it by tomorrow, I will take it.

Opps, forgot to post a got it.

Anyway, looks good. But we should be building laboratories first instead of space parts. Monkies love labs. Those people in a lab feed monkes with bananas and peanuts and what not, and do all sort of things to you, tickle you, stroke you, arouse you ....

The only event of remote interest to report is this:

monkies-AD1894-satellites.jpg

That's about as boring as a turnset can go, eh?

I removed the temple build in Banana Three ... yes, there is redshirt, but that should be taken off once the Eiffel Tower I am building come on line. I want to get the factory and lab in Banana 3 up first. Thereafter go ahead and build the temples.

We are being culturally squeezed at Champagne (ok, Lucky, go ahead, your turn to hurl abuses at me).

monkie-AD1900-champagne.jpg

But, don't worry, to that I have an answer. Let's revolt to Free Speech. The 100% culture output will help us fend off the culture pressure from Mongolia in the north and chinese in the south. The added coins would help our 100% research (thanks to Wall Street, we are pulling in +ve peanuts even at 100%) as well. Although the lost of hammers boost in Banana One would hurt, but I think overall it will do better good then harm.

Another civics that may need addressing is Representations. The health conditions is forcing us to remove a few scientists (plus I want to boost production now that thrusters are also available). Since we are still accumulating gold at 100%, we should consider UniSuff. But maybe not right away, as #1 it will hurt the happiness in Banana Two and Three, and #2 we still have a few specialists.

The #2 reason is not really important, because most of our beakers now come from the cottages. The #1 reason will no longer be a problem as soon as Eiffel Tower and RocknRoll comes on line (Eiffel will boost +1 happy from Hit Musicals, RocknRoll will boost +2 happiness combined with Eiffel, so effectively replacing the lost of +3 happiness from Representation in Banana Two and Banana Three). So revolting to UniSuff should be done once RocknRoll comes in (about 15+ turns).

In summary, I suggest next monkie to revolt to Free Speech immediately, and the monkie after next to revolt to UniSuff once RocknRoll is in.

There is no reason why we should build Apollo Program or Space Elevator in Banana Cities. Apollo Program is still okay since without it, Banana Cities can't do anything anyway. But Beanstalk should be planted elsewhere so that Banana cities can concentrate on SS parts. By the time Eiffel is done, Space Elevator should be available about the same time (still need Plastics and Robotics), so please resist the temptation of starting big projects like Pentagon in YueChi, and instead keep the city free to plant the Beanstalk.

Speaking of Plastics, we can get it from JC. There is right now only 4 turns left in Plastics for us, so it's up to the next monkie to decide whether to trade or not to trade.

monkie-AD1900-tech-sit.jpg

Personally, I would have traded (had I been more diligent in checking tech situations, I would have made the trade before investing half the Plastics beakers).

I have some workers automated for networking. Others, I suggest concentrating on building roads in forests in anticipation of massive chops around the banana cities right at the endgame.

And I leave you with a world where the relationship is in total chaos.

Nice one, Fox.

I'll grab it for tonite or possibly tomorrow sometimes. And we're back to a regular roster now.

Uhhh, before I play, I'd already installed BtS, which subsequently also updated Warlords to 2.13. If one of you hadn't upgraded, would you still be able to play from the save I post?

Crap. Sorry, I missed my slotted time to play so I'm gonna need a skip. This monkey has to take care of his little chimp who's sick from banana over-indulgence.

Roster
GreyFox – how is he swinging on those broken branches???
Berserks01 – swung into a wall
Rex Tyrannus – taking us for another crazy swing
Negyvenketto – always swing with finesse
Lucky 1972 – swung very nicely

To open up, Yakutsk wants to join the winning team. However, since it lacks for bananas, we must "recycle" the primitive metropolis.

yakutskjoins0000.jpg

Okay, I've heard of a GP farm, but this is ridiculous. I have no idea if hoarding these guys is part of the plan but, if so, it's a plan I ruin.

greatpeopleeverywhere0000.jpg

One GS and one GA = 8 turns of yippee!

goldenage0000.jpg

Another artist helps us out with culture crunch. (We're actually getting it from everywhere. I didn't switch civics on account of the golden age, but next guy up should switch to Free Speech and...errr..buy crap civic.)

culturebomb0001.jpg

Big radio tower comes on line.

eiffel0000.jpg

Man creates indelible mark on nature.

plastics0000.jpg

I back up our two vessels and heard over to banana island. Did we know the MA was there?

modernarmor0000.jpg

(There's also a rifel I could see as well.) Anyhow, global politics get trickier.

maonovassal0001.jpg

We shoot beams of light down tubes.

fiberoptics0001.jpg

And I stall the invasion. Up to others to decide if we can take it.

Ooosh ... new turns played ... time to put on my grumpy hat ...

Hmm ... first research: why FO? Didn't I mention ROBOTICS for the BEANSTALK!?

Next Civics: And did you revolt to free speech? that alone will help more than that GArtists you burned to create Mona Lisa's smile. But I am okay with that decision, as I was tempted to do it myself.

Finally GAge: While having a Golden Age is obviously nice, but we should plan them ... the reason why nobody triggered GA is because everyone is waiting to trigger it when we are building the Space Elevator.

And I don't think the invasion force is big enough ... there is at least two MA if you'd read Lucky's report. I think we need to double that compliments.
