In the mid 80s, when i was a very small kid (born at 1979), there were a lot of great cartoons around :) This is a poll about them, and hopefully they have not been entirely unheard of by younger people, or at least people in my age group will remember them ;)

You can name other shows as your favourite, i decided to only include a few that i could think of as the most memorable.

Henry's Cat, it was totally awesome.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles was awesome.

I didn't "grow up" in the eighties, but I was born in the eighties, and I saw a lot of reruns from the 80's cartoons fairly regularly in the early 90's.

Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't there a Ghostbusters series too? I like that one, but I can't remember if it was 80's or not.

Smurfs?
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles?
The REAL Ghostbusters?
Transformers?

Of the ones listed, it would have to be GI Joe with Tundercats a close 2nd.

Didnt the Transformers debut in the 80s? If so, that would be a top contender. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles was also huge, as was He-Man.

But the decade prior to that really had the best cartoons. Namely, Johnny Quest, and the original SpaceGhost. Awesomely classic.

@Pete: There were actually 2 Ghostbusters cartoons over the years. One based upon the movies and another based upon the story the movies were based on called "The Real Ghostbusters".

Thundercats, HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Ahem. And Transformers G1 was an 80's show IIRC.

I saw an episode of Thundercats 1-2 years ago, and it was horrible. Lion-O spoke as if he was channeling William Shatner.

The dialogue went like this, and I'm not exaggerating:

"Oh. Look. Schnarf. There. Is a Pond. Let's. Go for. A swim."

I never realized how terrible it was at the time. T-T

Oh no, I totally agree. Totally agree. And lets not get started about Schnarf.

Well, thats simply the truth of anything nostalgic. Its fondly remembered, but not often very palatable under modern scrutiny and comparison.

Transformers

All the shows I have in mind all ran in the late 1980s when I was a kid... most of them spill over into the very early 1990s. Inspector Gadget, Dennis the Menace, and Heathcliff are all the ones I can think of that ran exclusively in the 1980s. Also, they reprised The Jetsons in the mid-80s for a couple of seasons.
