Hm... he is hugely hyped by now, and although i do like some of his work and elements of his movies, i am not really of the view he is that amazing. I do recall liking "Prestige" considerably, but it's been some time since i saw it. On the other hand i did not like "Memento" (but the budget was very small for the film as well, and it was utterly focused on one plotline).

The batman films... were excellent as 'Batman films', but overall i felt like they were mostly tied to entertainment anyway, and not some more interesting aspiration. I liked a number of their scenes [Bane was a very cool movie character, despite AFAIK the actual comic Bane being very different, or hugely ( ;) ) ].

You can suggest Nolan movies to check out. For the record i only saw the first 10 min of Inception, cause i did not enjoy the firearms/spy elements there. I heard about the plot, in general, and may try to see the entire movie at some point..

Batman Begins and Inception are the ones which have the most replay value for me. Inception is like The Matrix for me, there are always new little things I'm noticing each time I watch it, technical details about the "functioning" of the movie universe which the movie itself doesn't explain. I like it because it shows a larger consideration by the filmmakers for the world the movie takes place in, not just what's immediately necessary to progress the plot and explain that plot to the viewers.

Batman Begins is just a very satisfying movie to watch, in the same way that Fellowship of the Ring is the most satisfying LoTR movie for me. It's probably the best of the superhero origin films made since 2000, even better than Iron Man. It's got the right mix of "what would you do in that situation" and "he's just a bit better than we could ever be" that makes it feel more "realistic" (huge quotation marks around that word!) than the previous Batman movies. It balances the suspension of disbelief well, and that makes it stand out from the rest of the trilogy, which seems a bit too fantastical (but are of course still a lot of fun to watch), and from the previous Batman films, which never shed the imagery of men in rubber suits dropping comic-book lines.

I hated Batman Begins, couldn't finish watching it. Batman talking the way he talks was just too goofy. The transition from Bruce Wayne to Batman was too stupid. I could never make it past like maybe 45 minutes into this movie.

But I loved the Dark Knight and Batman's voice didn't bother me there.

I guess I'm completely not convinced about the origins story presented, but found the dark knight story enthralling and the characters very believable, even if batman's cover is a bit idiotic.. for some reason it bugged me a hell of a lot in the first movie but not at all in the second. Go figure.

Inception was probably his best movie, in terms of stuff he's directed. edit: He didn't direct Memento, did he? If he did, I'm changing my answer. But I didn't think that he did. Did he help write it? Produce it? IMDB, I know, but I'm going back to work.

I think remakes of movies that only came out a couple of years earlier are a little silly, but Nolan's remake of Insomnia was better than I'd expected. As for the best Nolan movie, I'd probably say Memento (although I haven't seen Inception yet).

I liked the ones with names beginning from "In..." so far.
Insomnia and Inception.
Hope Interstellar will be good too.
