Best video game music?

Yeah I know. Is there any superb one on the DS? Otherwise I might just end up buying a high-caliber PS3 to play Final Fantasy XII on. And then there's always FFXIII...

Well, I recommend getting the GBA version of Final Fantasy VI which you can play on the DS, it's the best game in the series, IMO. Final Fantasy III is a decent game that captures the old school FF feel. Final Fantasy IV is being released in America on the DS in July. I already imported the Jap version and I have to say it's one of the best games on the DS.

Anyway, here's all the games that can be played on the DS:

FF I-VI
FF XII: Revenant Wings
FFCC: Ring of Fates
FF Tactics Advance
FF Tactics A2

If you own a DS and a PS2 or a PS3 w/BC you can play every game in the main series as well as most of the spin-offs. I'd recommend getting a PS2 or PS3 if you want to play the newer games.

There are very few times you will play a FF game and say it wasn't good. There were a couple on the super nes I didn't care for, but I think one of them was a spinoff. I like the early ones and the later ones pretty much the same. The one for super nes with Tella in it has my heart as the best one though. I think it is ff3. Probably just because i was young and played it a lot. The final fantasy legend games aren't bad for GB either. Final Fantasy Adventure for gameboy supposedly fits into the secret of mana storyline somehow.

While I bring up secret of mana, I remember it had some pretty good music.

StarCraft's music was fine. Good thing I'll be getting it tomorrow (sorry, Final Fantasy!)

Okay, time to roll the ().

That was probably Mystic Quest and it was an abortion. In Japan, Mystic Quest was called Final Fantasy USA, because it was specifically made as a beginner RPG for American gamers.

I like the early ones and the later ones pretty much the same. The one for super nes with Tella in it has my heart as the best one though. I think it is ff3.
The one with Tellah was released as FF II on the SNES which is actually FF IV. SNES FF III is actually FF VI and there both among the best in the series.

GTA Vice city by far. Although its not your average video game type music.

Super Mario Galaxy has some good ones, as did the Banjo series. Skies of Arcadia had good music, too. A game with awesome music was Snowboard Kids 2.

Tropico and to a slightly lesser extent Tropico 2.

It's the only game soundtrack that I not only let play in game, but listen to outside of the game.

Guitar Hero doesn't really have game music does it? AFAIK the music is non-game music.

In GH 3 the two first battle songs could be classified as game music, since they have been exclusively composed for the game.

I like Ski or Die's music, but that is probably mainly for nostalgic reasons. Of course I also like all that usual Mario, FF etc. stuff. Pokémon has some quite nice songs, too. Vanilla CivIV's Baba Yetu title song is awesome, too.

In Smash Bros. Brawl you can unlock a boss battle theme from Golden Sun that will play at Norfair.

All the latest GTA games. Also Need for Speed games.
