"Beta" Massive WW2 scenario

Ok so far, about 5 turns in and already everyone is making and breaking alliances and declaring war on each other. Russia is still neutral though so thats good.

I'll try to keep you upto date on progress but it may be slow going as I'm also playing Phoenixs mod. The between turns on your map are very slow though, couple of minutes already, ad my pc is 2GHz, 256Mb.

Have you looked into the latest PTW patch, improved editor functions include a map revealer. Last time I looked though the UK version still wasn't available.

Been busy the last few days working on the scenario and have uploaded it to the link in the first post but no saves this time.

With many changes, here are a few.

I have put in all the capital ship with names and year, and tried to place them in their correct spots but it was hard to find the information on their locations. Pumped up some navies to make them more accurate and adjusted some countries militaries too.

I have made adjustment to the map and city placement to be more correct, and will continue to do so. Thanks for all the past/future help on this. The Soviet front has been beefed up with more cities and makes it more challenging.

I have made turns in weeks, and they range from 1 week to 2 weeks per-turn based on the WW2 timeline. I tried to make it so that when there is down time between invasions it will be 2 weeks per-turn and when there is an invasion it will change back to 1 week. An example would be after the invasion of Poland there is a bout 5 months of calm. ( except for the Soviet/Finn war ) Turns will be 2 weeks in this time un till around April 1940 when it will change back to 1 week per-turn and so on.

I also picked up all the natural resources and replaced them to be more correct from what I know, but would like to get a good reference on what countries had as resources at the time, so if anyone can help me out on the Natural Resource placement that would be cool. I saved the map without the resources so if you wanted you could use it to place them and I will work off that, just let me know.

EPL the game you are playing now will play a lot different in the 2.0 version. Yeah I have a 1.5Ghz, 512 ram with a nice video card, and agree that it take a little time between turns when you play with all 31 civ's, when I play a game it is usually with 25 civs or less and things go quicker, but then again it is a massive scenario and you can play with as many civ's as you would like.

I have heard of the patch before in a tread but couldn't find it, can you or anyone give me a link or tell me what the patch name is?

Good work, but Hamburg is a famous harbour city. So give her a way to the North sea. The Bismarck for example was build there. And rename Austria with Vienna and Prussia with Königsberg. If you can´t write the Ö in Köneigsberg, write it Koenigsberg. You can add "in Preußen" (in Prussia). This addendum Königsberg had, because there is a Königsberg in Pomerania and Bavaria.

Thanks and I left Hamburg like that just so I could hear from you again Adler. It has been done, Hamburg has her way to the north sea. Not only did I take care of Austria and Prussia proper but also all the others, Prague, Brussels, Tirana, Riga, Tallinn, Vilnius.

I made these changes and some others and uploaded it for download, still version 2.0

I found a cool site that has tons of maps of all kinds from 1500 to 2003 that let you zoom in and out. So the one I am working with now is from 1942 yeah a few years after 1939 but it is a world map. I was able to check on every city I have placed on my map, So I changed some of the name's of the cities to their correct ones of the time. Some cities may still be off a little in placement but I think it is looking better.

Cool I have seen this patch but thought that I had the current one(114) I also have (121) both for PTW and (129 - for civ 3)
If that is the case then I shall download the newest patch and use the new options. That post was started August 1

Well, at least the Uk version of the patch seems to have arrived as well so I should be ok with the new version. It might be workth checking if everyone who uses this mod has access to the patch as well though.

Of course they can always stick with version 2 until all the patches are released (or are they now?) ....

I guess I am going to give up my location or at least the version of the civ I have because I will just say that the patch for my game is not out yet. The new option sound cool and I can't wait to implement them, but I will do the update once all the patches have been made available for all civ versions.

This scenario is coming along really well now - good work Meateater. EPL - I've just been on the civ homepage and I cannot find the english version on their (only v1.14).

Yeah I just installed the US patch yesterday and it worked fine. I get a nice clean map now from the start of the scenario. Can anyone direct me to how I turn the AI patrol off, just cant seem to find it.
Sorry Phoenix I don't see an English version yet either ,but hopefully soon.

Thanks for the info Yurt. I thought that the cities were in good placment, but I moved them down one square. What do you think of the Ottawa area?

I was able to turn off the AI patrol and seems to work fine, the time bewteen turns has been reduced from this too.

Made a Battle Cruiser unit. Going to use it with the other capital ships, so there will be BB and BC.

Fort Nelson is such a minor city it doesn't appear on the population statistics site I use. Aklavik is also very minor. I would recommend adding Whitehorse 3 squares SE of Dawson and removing Dawson as well. Whitehorse and Rae (or Yellowknife) were the only northern cities with any significant population at all (as in over a couple thousand).

This is where I would put the Western cities:

For the East, Albany is insignificant. Replace it with Timmins (green spot) or Rouyn (blue spot).
Ft George, Chimo and Hopedale are also way too small. If you need a city in Labrador the largest is probably Happy Vally/Goose Bay, but it is still insignificant.

There shouldn't be hills near Toronto. Move New Brunswick to the dot and name it Rimouski. Nova Scotia should definately be called Halifax. St John's should be on the top of the very Eastern part of Newfoundland (off my map).

I like this mod and am drooling for the next patch or version for it.

Yurt
Thanks for the help on Canada, cool maps. I have made the changes and I hope that they are correct now. Of course I want to get all the significant cities in there but I also want to try and fill in some of the territory of the country too, so some small cities will be to fill in the empty space.

I just posted the newest version of the scenario and am going to leave up the old one till the rest of the patches come out for 1.27f. There are 2 downloads for now 2.0 (1.14f) and 2.0-1.27f

Al Zan what patch are you using? Well maybe it will work now since I posted both versions of the last 2 patches. When you open the file it should open up into the civ3 ptw editor.

Since I am just including the scenario in the download if you want to turn off AI Patrolling you will have to open the ini file and add it your self at the end like this NoAiPatrol=1
