"Beta" Massive WW2 scenario

That was good news. I have just downloaded 2.1.
I can understand that you are waiting for Conquests
before making new changes, with regard to the new
features that should come with the expansion.

Once again, very good news that you continue to
work with this scenario.

I have tested version 2.1 and it looks good.

One question: The Soviet Sibiria consists of
"dots" of territory.

Why not make it look at its should by giving the Siberian
cities very high cultural values?

2.5 uploaded for download

Filled in central and south america , also filled in north west africa and south africa

around 475 cities placed on the map now

mades some changes to the units, 2 movement points for tanks now to slow them down.

was able to make a kamikazi plane for japan, one shot deal and cost a pop point. Sank a ship with just one though.

Also added in some techs, so there may be some researching.
There are land, sea, and air combat tech paths that you can research, and will open up the better units, like the panther, tiger, t34, v-1, v-2 rockets , B-17, me262, A-Bomb and more. Just playing arouond with it for now and seeing what I can do.

I saw some more Conquest screens, also read some more stuff, and I am ready for it, hopefully next month it get released.

I stopped the previous game I was playing as it just got too slow but restarted playing without America and canada and it worked fine, no more than a minute or so between turns.

I haven't finished that game as I was finally winning the war against russia and with over 1300 units (mostly panthers) there was little resistance left. Another couple of nights or so and I would have won but the fun had gaone out of the game so I decided to try a new game, this time as Japan. More on this later.

Some comments on the last game: I didn't build many tigers, they have quite a high cost for only a 4 point increase in attack and combined with the loss of 1 move didn't perform as well as the panthers. Now you've reduced the movement to 2 though for the other tanks this could change.

I still think the cost of UBoats is too high, with the AIs ability to 'see' all units (even if its supposed to be programmed to ignore them), the AI found my UBoats with too great a degree of repeatability to be accidental and there life span was very short (1 or 2 turns max). I built mostly battleships instead.

I liked the resource requirement for the tigers / panthers but maybe you could take this another step and have 1 resource for panthers (ie In Greece) and the other further away (Edge of Russia maybe?) for Tigers. Just to give increased reason to attack Russia.

Italy didn't stay allied to me for long before sneak attacking me resulting in me placing their cities in 'protective custody'. England had pretty much cleared them out of Africa by then anyway. Hopefully Conquest will prevent this in the future anyway.

England itself fell quickly, but the cities in Africa / India provided me with plenty of problems early on.

I made a mistake trying out the parachute plane, loading it with 5 paras and then trying to airdrop them next to an English city, the plane was shot down and I lost the lot! Opps, next time I'll use more planes with fewer people in it :)

Ah well, back to work I guess...
 
Thanks for the input and help on the scenario Rocoteh, and look for more updates. I am going to add in all the Carrier ship names, like what was done with the capital ships.

EPL I have been working on the units since the last time you posted, but I still have some things to do and will make some changes based on your advice.

I made the tanks have 2 movement points to slow them down in the tight confines of europe. I may give the U-boat and tiger an extra hit point. It is a little tricky to get a damaged U-boat back to harbor for repair without it getting sunk on its way around England.

I took out the extra resourse (iron ore and whatever required it now needs iron instead) and now the units have to be researched to be playable. There are 6 combat techs to research before the future techs.
One for Sea combat two for Land combat and two for Air combat and one tech that you need a Land tech and a Air tech to be able to research.

I could bring the resourse back and place a few on the map like you said but remember that in Conquest the resourses can be bombed, and taken away for good. So that is one reason I made some techs to open up the units, instead of how it was before with the resourse. I am not sure but even if I placed the resource under a city I don't think it would be protected.

I will make some changes to England to be stronger at home.

Yeah the para plane can get shot down on a mission. I lost a whole plane load of troops on a drop with the same mistake you made. Now I send in some fighters ahead to clear out any threats, or make the drop a safer distance away if its the only other way.

I am going to try and load a full 31 civ game, 475 cities and get a screen. Not sure if its going to work though.

It took about 50 minutes to load.

I did a play test last night and had some fun with all the changes.

I will try and get a list of the carriers names Rocoteh.
 
On my new computer (512 MB RAM Pentium 4 2.6 GHz)
load time for 2.1 was 26 minutes 10 seconds.

I then upgraded RAM to 1 536 MB RAM and thought
I should use this scenario as a test (to check difference
in load time) but before that the computer become stonedead,
so I have to wait with the test.

There are missing the Japanese Shokaku and Zuikaku, which were also Fleet Carrier. I also would add the German Graf Zeppelin, which was nearly completed, but never commissioned because of political mistakes (Göring). IIRC France had also at least one carrier.

Shokaku and Zuikaku was completed during 1941.
That is the reason they are not on the list.

The French Carrier Bearn (launched 1914) was not
a Fleet Carrier.

Yeah Rocoteh a new computer is always nice. And just over 26 minute load time thats fast.

I also filled in the S.U. some above Mongolia. I still can place about 30 cities on the map until it gets maxed out, so I will do that too, maybe fill in the rest of the central Africa. G.B. home Island has been made stronger. Same with the French in Europe. Have done some adjusting with the units too. Am thinking about adding another carrier class now.

Still working on making the allies stick together and same for axis, last night in a game after about 25 turns in, everything was going smooth until the U.S attacked G.B. They had a ROP and were trading with each other. So I will see if setting the aggression level to its lowest for all civs helps, its set in the middle now.

Since this scenario starts at the beggining of the war. The options are open to make other starting dates too. I am not going to go in to more detail at this time on this idea(s), but in the coming month (Conquest release) hopefully I will.

It has been done and will be in the next update Al Zan

I added 2 more carriers classes, so you get two classes to start and have to research the other.
Also added a second class for the battleship and battle cruiser that have to be researched. Only class 2 BB and BC can blitz.
Have done some other little changes as well.
 
Meateater - I just like to say that this scenario is now great! :) I was just in the process of making a scenario like this (for personal use) using the DYP (Double Your Pleasure) scenario when I remembered about your scenario. Have you ever thought about making a new version with the DYP rules?

Hopefully the good work will continue! :)
 
Yeah Rocoteh and Adler17 some of the ships will be class 2, like the ships you have both mentioned above, and some others.

Phoenix I was just planning on using the conquest expansion pack when it comes out. DYP has lots of stuff though. Glad you like this scenario, but its still a work in progress.
 
I have downloaded what looks like a wonderful scenario but I dont have and save games where do I download them?
