[Beyond the Sword] Necro Cristi

Waiting For Other Players is Civ4 speak for "processing AI turns".

If that ever happens again, try alt+tabbing out. There may be an error message you can click through and the program will crash like normal. That or it's a hang error and it never recovers, BUT, we have to examine all options.

Ok, I just got the same hang bug as TEAM HORN. I can alt+tab out just fine, but there's no error message, it's just not advancing to the next turn. You have to end the program from windows manually, it won't crash out.

I've uploaded a save from the turn before (AO-0027-April). All you have to do is hit enter and it won't advance the turn. I've also uploaded the save from the turn before...dunno how it would be relevant, but it can't hurt...much.

Thing is, I got this save from loading an autosave (every four turns) and playing through to the turn it crashes. I picked a different research project the second time around, probably didn't change how I ordered people around, but yeah, it crashes right on the dot. Ending turn 155 will hang the game so you never see turn 156.

Yes, single player, I'm using Steam as well, but I figure it has something to do with Worship. I'm playing the Pale Hand, recently adopted the civic, and it's the most obvious change from the last version...well, ok, maybe it's TOO obvious...it might be something else entirely. Remember the lighthouse crash? Yeah, who saw that one coming? :p

Anyway, hope this helps!

When religion founded and a civ adopted it, games giving never-ending "Waiting for Players...". This is the main problem Colin. =)

I havent got ant saves but i have same thing at turns 27 to 29 and the common point is religion adopting.

Yes, I've experienced this problem too after a couple of longer playthroughs. The lack of an error message does make things a little tricky to diagnose, but I'll try disabling a few religions and civics (as the most likely culprits) and keep testing.

So far the only way to remove the hanging bug has been to remove a lot of the things like religion that were in the latest build, but this is a bit of a sledgehammer approach. To be honest I don't have much time to do a lot of bugtesting at the moment.

Ha ha, yes there is a certain irony to the 'many deaths' this mod has experienced. Truthfully I'm in dire need of volunteers to squash bugs. With a limited amount of time to mod (true for all modders I know!) spending my time rooting through xml and python files is rather disheartening, I'd like to spend at least a little time on additions and gameplay features; but this side is rather redundant while there are game-hanging bugs out there.

What kind of help are you looking for? I'm not all that well versed in Civ modding but I'm pretty well experienced with XML.

hmm... it seems to me that the bug is being caused by the peace with barbarians from worship. I seem to be able to continue play when any religeon is adopted and any civic besides worship is adopted. I decided to see if the peace with barbarians was the problem, so I deleted it and play tested. Upon giving the AI Spiritual Death, Flesh of Vodoun was founded and adoted, worship was adopted, and no unending turn. I've played 4 turns without incident. I will continue to test.

I've moved the "peace with barb" event to fire at the begining of the turn. This seems to have fixed the bug. However, the "endless turn" apears randomly at times. A reload of the auto save and new random seed on reload allow you to play past that turn, but it occurs fairly frequently. I hope this helps...

Thanks Randomness. Will take another look at things this weekend when I have some time.

Just making sure: Some of the factions were removed because they weren't stable? Also most of the civics aren't in 0.33 based on the screenshots?

There isn't any siege weapons available, which makes war between factions a real pain, I'd put them pretty high on the improvements list.

Colin, if you haven't read The Walking Dead comics, they're a real treat for the zombie aficionado.

Gah! *computer combusts* what the heck? When I download this file and try to run it, I go to the civilopedia to double-check the download and... absolutely nothing is changed. It has the civilopedia from a regular BtS game. I made a folder under MODS in BtS, and extracted it there. I'm almost certain it's my computer's problem, but it may be my lack of skill with zip files (I'm really starting to HATE these things  ). Yeah, my computer really isn't helping on this one. It often appears like Microsoft is trying to piss me off. Any help is appreciated. :(

And to answer Something's question, no, the mod is not dead... it will riiiiiiiiise from the graaaave... with a little encouragement from fans :)

Check your NecroCristi folder again: Is there a second NecroCristi folder in it? If yes, move everything from the second folder to the first folder, and try it again.

So... has this mod been killed permanently, or will it be resurrected for Civ5?

Nice pun :goodjob:.

I got a problem when ever I load the mod it keeps saying that it has "failed to initialize the primary control theme" anyone know how to fix this?

Have you made sure that BtS has been fully patched to 3.19? Now, before you answer that question, did you patch it through the auto-updater? Because it lies when it says it patched your version, it just doesn't download anything. The only way to patch it is through the downloadable patch, which you can find on this site.

Other than that, I'm not sure what else it might be. This mod doesn't have more than one file to download, so it's not "mod patch applied to non-existant mod"...unless that is the case and I'm missing it. That's the only other time you see that error unless it's a mod running with an incompatible version of Civ 4 (i.e. a 3.17 mod running on 3.19, or a 3.19 mod running on an earlier version).
