Just curious if anyone else has tried to push the limits of stacking all the food/growth bonuses. I got a city up to 128 population today! Has anyone beaten that?

I only put 12 fish in my factory to avoid the whole "growing every single turn" thing, but it was still pretty cheesy. This was on the lowest difficulty level.

Food in capital was about 3500, with over 70 specialists and 11 dedicated towns supplying food.

wow. I wonder if there is an upper limit, like 255 :)

I think the most important thing, mapwise, is something that allows as many fishing towns on the same continent as possible. Road connections have more limited range, and can't really be trusted to connect properly every time. But fishing works consistently, allowing a whole continent worth of food towns. I just rolled with the first random map for this one, so I'm sure it can be done better with more planning. I did have 3 small offshore islands on the same continent as my homeland so that was nice, but 11 food towns total I'm sure can be improved upon.

Off topic, but how did you get the symbols for the two units on the same tile to show up side by side?

Oh I am using Sukritact's UI mod! It's great.

Well
Specialist limit*37 (if you are spreading things out and putting Specialists in Urban districts with just 1 Obsolete building)... although it should actually be 36 since you will need Angor Wat to get the Highest possible Specialist Limit

so currently 252? (7*36)... is there a way to get more than 7 Specialists?

Nope. It's just Angkor Wat and that 1 node in the expansionist tree. Oh and that reminds me...in this game I selected that bottom repeating option on the expansionist tree, many, many times. Each one of those doesn't add a whole lot, but in total it was fairly significant (couple hundred food). I had a few towns on other continents that weren't providing food directly, but they still contributed a little bit this way.

Funnily enough, the main ways to improve on my population would involve slowing down my victory. The main driver of the game completion was my repeated research into future techs & civics. Unfortunately it did not occur to me to make my adjacency bonuses and whatnot as bad as possible
