Bioshock 2...worth it?

No, not a necro thread. I am revisiting some old games these days. Just finished Bioshock after ignoring it for 4 years. Wow! Awesome, awesome game. Reminds me of the old days when studios actually made engrossing single player oriented first person shooters.

After finishing it though, I kind of wanted more, but I don't want to just do it over again. Is Bioshock 2 good? Or is it more of the same with a few extras added in? I read some reviews, and even the ones giving it high praise seem to describe it as basically the same thing, revamped. Same premise, same weapons, same plasmids, but "different..."

It's $20 on Steam. Worth it or not? What say ye?

Wait until it goes on sale for like $5 either next month or in December. I haven't played Bioshock 2 (never finished the first one as I got bored with it) but it isn't as highly regarded and it is going to go on sale soon anyway.

Despite loving the first game, I never bothered with 2. The idea of being a Big Daddy had zero appeal to me. And the setting seemed to be "more of the same except uninspired".

As Maniacal says... Buy for less than 5$ as it will inevitably happen on Steam.

It wasn't bad. The story wasn't quite as engrossing (I felt like they made the villain in Bioshock 2 a communist for ridiculous political balance), but it's worth your 5 or 10 dollars when it goes on sale.

Because Halo definately needed 10+ sequels to tell the tale of the man in the Awesome green armor.

What are you talking about? They have Bioshock Infinite coming out next year. It doesn't seem to have any relation story wise (and maybe not even in the same reality or world as) with the first two Bioshock games.

It's a good game, but not as good as the original. That's why people look at it unfavourably, though it is a very good game.
