BirdNES 3: When Worlds Collide

Thanks! But on second thought I think I will lurk. I don't think I understand the rules enough yet, but it sure is fun to read!

The rules are designed to let you act like a ruler. Decide what you want to do (goals) and then spend money to accomplish those goals. The only things with set pricing are buying armies and navies; for everything else, you spend whatever you want. In many NESes orders have predictable outcomes; in mine they don't and that can be a difficult adjustment. I want plaayers to focus on doing interesting things and and not calculating results. My goal is to give you lots of information about your nation (stats) that tell you where you stand in relation to other nations. I work hard to make it difficult to "game" the system. The complexity of the rules is mainly related to letting you know what kinds of things are in place that you can use. They are a reference guide. If you act like a king, and stay within the context of the 16th C, you get to try whatever you want.

I did not get as much accomplished during the week as I had hoped, but still hope to get the update completed this weekend since next week is a very busy week at work with several evening meetings.

One note: several have included deals with other nations in their orders, but unless the otehr nation also includes a reference to that deal in their orders, it usually doesn't happen. for example, if Muscovy says that Austria will give him 1000 gold, but Austria makes no mention of that, then no gold moves from Austria to Muscovy. If two nations both mention such a transfer, but the amounts differ, the lower amount takes precedence. For the most part, if it is not in your orders, it doesn't happen.

What if you send money to someone for something specific and they forget to mention it at all? I suppose if you're just giving them money it'd be banked if they forgot to mention it, but if it was earmarked would they still be in debit (or however economists are supposed to say it)?

Oh and thanks for the clarification two posts above. I was a bit intimidated by all the stats too, though I know this is a fairly freeform modded NES.

If you give money, they will probably get it even if they don't acknowledge it. If you are expecting a gift or something from a nation and they don't mention it, you probably won't get it. If you try to give tech and their orders don't show they expect to get it, they probably won't.

Has Charles Lee forgotten his deals as usual? :/

Whatever, I meant you, and I ment the various deals around the marriage. Did you remember it?

Some lower level royals to govern Ceylon, no biggie.

I insinuated that a PM was necessary. And it wasn't forgotten. 2 turns later I can PM you my orders minus sensitive details. By then, the moderately sensitive details would be irrelevant.

I don't care to see you're orders. It will be pretty obvious in the update anyway.

Lots of progress today and last night. I'm pushing hard for Sunday afternoon or evening for the update and the maps. I have four or five section to write including one war. Final stats might take longer. I'm pretty pleased with it though.

Lucky, do you have a name for that area of Columbia that you taken from the Michuan?

Thank you, as I inch to the top of the next page
