Bismarck vs Hitler: End of debate!

Of course if U'd rather see Frederik the Great, Herrman, Barbarossa- or Thierse (well with THAT beard he might well be an unfortunate reincarnation ;)) U just have to hope that someone will create one- perhaps U should ask Swenn in the creation forum !!!

I thought Fredrick the Great and Barbarossa were the same person.

Barbarossa was a 12th century emperor while Frederik the Great was king of Prussia during the 18th century.

And BTW, the Frederik in Civ2 isn't the Frederik in Civ1, but Barbarossa's successor on the throne of the Holy Roman Empire.

A possibility would be to take Ebert or Hindenburg to match the tank time at least a bit.

Btw, Happy Birthday W.i.n.t.e.r! :bday:

Sicher doch! :)
Ich bin dabei, wenn Du einen ausgibst :D

I already proposed the Kaiser (William II to be precise). After all he looked funny. ;)

Let's go back to English though, not that some mod gets angry.
So, ahm, some on topic stuff...
How about Pippin der Kurze? :D

Disgusting! :vomit:

And that was one of the lesser disasters?

Next proposal: Kaiser Friedrich Wilhelm, the 99 days Kaiser

The worse thing is that beer is dissapearing  from pubs !!!!
No, it is not because of :nuke: or because the :queen: drinks it all by herself. It is far more sinister :mutant: - they started mixing it - with black- and red currant sirup. And they liked it :spank: !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And now the young people (measured by brain capacity, horsepower, etc) started geting drunk on what I call "designer" spirits: Metz (hey that is still noble); Aftershock - some mouthwash-like tasting ooze with odd colouring, Red Planet, Bacardi Breezer (5 bottles per night per girl minimum)... and what they don't drink they spill when they R too drunk to hold the glass- :rotfl:

Wow. Ever walk into a History classroom expecting to hear a lecture about Germanic leaders and find the whole class speaking in other languages and debating beer and wine coolers? I'd say this thread is ready for the bell....

Hey, birthday congratulations in German in a thread about Germany's leaders is not so much off the track.
Besides that we made a whole lot of leader suggestions, how about replying to that? ;)

Although I don't think Hitler is a good representative of the German folk, I deny the fact that he was not German.

People say "he was Austrian!"

What race are Austrian then?

They are a mixture of Magyar (Hungarian), Chech, Slovak and German folks.

However, they are mostly German.

Before Germany united, they were LOTS OF little states such as Saxony, Baviara, Bohemia, Teutonic Order, blah, blah... Austria was one of those.

The only reason Austria is a SEPERATE country today is the Habsburg family annexing Hungary, vassalizing Bohemia, conquering the Netherlands and having one of the greatest borders in all Europe after Spain, France, and maybe the Ottomans.

HOWEVER;

As a half-Austrian half-Turkish guy living in the United States for 2 years already, I don't like the "OH NAZIS ARE THE GREATEST" kind of mentality. I mean, there was one mod that I downloaded a few days ago (or it was just a unit by the Waffen SS group or whatever).

Man, if you really want to know more about the 2nd World War history, I can introduce you to my uncle who was a FLAK gunner taken captive by the Americans towards the end of the war and give you the diaries of my grandfather who was an in-field radio operator who was forced to shoot Italian soldiers whom they played poker with the other night, just because they switched sides.

Hitlerwas born in an empire called Austrian-Hungarian (or something like that, since I only know the name in my language...).

People borned in that empire were called Austrian. I think that it is acceptable that classification.
Some goes for Alexander the Great being Macedonian (not Greek...), as it has been said in previous threads...

Not to interrupt the history discussion, but I think the best way to solve the leader dilemma is to have several leaders for each country included with the game by firaxis and the player chooses the leader it wants. So we could have bismark, hitler, some warm and fuzzy feelings leader and some of those unhearduv types you've been discussing.
