Black headed people

I would like to raise the old issue of what race that sumerians belong to?
They called themselves sag-gig-ga - 'black headed people' .

So, I think they are black people. What you guys say.

The majority of Sumeria and Akkadia became part of the Babylonian empire; which became Iraq.

Kind of like how you can trace Germany to the Holy Roman Empire, to Rome, to the same ancestors as France.

They're middle-eastern. Black Headed likely refers to their Hair or some other trait.

In the Quran, Persians are refered to as "red-skinned" and the Turks were usually placed along the category of "white-skinned." in the Caliphates. Given the range of skin colours avaliable to a modern veiwer this may seem odd, but given thier context and knowledge of human beings they best repersented that colour or shade. Similiar to how East Asians were reffered to as "yellow" despite not really being so. It is likly that they had dark hair by that description, though mabey not completly black (it might also refer to the headgear they wore too).

If you want to talk about "skin colour" of the sumerians, then do it either in the off topic or history forums, and i really suggest that you heavily improve the quality of the opening post.
