Black Scren invisible unit! help

I'm having this problem, whe I try to play civ 4 colonization i see the water black and the terrain white, the unit are invisibles i only see some part of the units. I hava the same problem wich the civ 4, but in civ 4 i fix it by open up Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4\Assets\XML\Technologies\CIV4TechInfos.xml

and do a replace all changing <bMapVisible>0</bMapVisible> to <bMapVisible>1</bMapVisible>.

After that i can play and see everything so it not a problem wich the video card i think.
The problem is that civ 4 colonization hast'n got a XML\Technologies\CIV4TechInfos.xml file to edit, so i can't use this trick. Please i really want to play this game Anybody can help me?

I Have a Sony Vaio PCG K15 Laptop, 2.8 ghz, 512 ram, Video card ATI Radeon IGP 345M

I'm having the same problem and bare map isn't turned on. Has anyone a solution.

You did that and it worked? That should make it so that every tech you research should reveal the map (so you don't have to explore). Are you sure there was nothing else you did?
