Blue Marble Terrain

You have to start the World Builder in-game. It's in the main menu.

btw this is a forum, not IM- sometimes it takes more than a couple minutes to get a response ;)

The World Builder is not in the main menu in my version of the game. :(

There is no world builder in my game, I just checked again. WTH is with this! Do I need to return my copy of the game? Howcome its not there!? What the hell is wrong with my copy?!

EDIT: I found it on the escape menu, howcome I have to start another game in order to access it?

Also, I do not get anything I see in those screenshots. Why is that? Something must be wrong with my copy of the game.

My game will not work unless Disk 1 is in my computer. Disk 2 is the play disk but my computer thinks disk 1 is the play disk. What a screw up on my copy. Is there any way I can still exchange my copy of the game?

I also cannot regnerate map in my editor, when I click it it does nothing. Also, I am unable to quit normally. Something is seriously screwed up with my copy of the game. Howcome this crap only happens to me and nobody else!?

Finally GOt it!

MY GAME FROZE WHILE I WAS IN THE WORLD BUILDER! Why can't I use the world builder without starting a game first? Howcome may game screws up so much? Howcome nobody ever replies to this topic?

Posts merged. Morfos, please don't post so many posts one after another in the same thread. You can edit the post to add more stuff instead.

There is no shortcut to the World Builder in the main menu. You need to hit CTRL+W ingame to launch the World Builder.

Sorry, I meant the main in-game menu (Esc). We've been asking the same question. Fortunately there are some utilities available in the Utilities & Tools forum that you can use to make your own scenarios without needing to use the World Builder.

Nothing is wrong with your game. These are all common questions. If you aren't seeing the new terrain you need to clear your cache by holding the shift key while the game is loading, or deleting the folder C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Application Data\My Games\Civilization 4\cache. You may need to reveal hidden folders in order to see it.

A lot of copies of the game have mis-labeled discs, including mine. Just use the one that works.
I also cannot regnerate map in my editor, when I click it it does nothing.
The WB is slow, especially on older computers and/or large maps. If it's too slow, try some of the scenario-building utilities instead.
Also, I am unable to quit normally.
Quit what? The WB? What happens?

There are hundreds of people on this very forum with much worse problems.

Did the program lock up, or did it just not do anything for a while? Depending on what you were doing, itmay take a few seconds to process it. You have to start a new game because that's just the way the program works. There are stand-alone editors being made, and some are already usable.
Howcome nobody ever replies to this topic?
Like I said, this isn't IM.

Alright, I am sorry about that. :(

You might want to also actually spend at least a minimal amount of time trying to research your problems (I mean your Civ4 issues) online - perhaps even this very thread - before attemping to spam us all into suicidal submission.

Just signed up for this topic.

Firstly I would like to thank you for this mod. It is awesome, makes a huge difference. :)

Also and I am not sure if this has been posted, as I am to lazy to read through all the pages, there is a way of using BM in multiplayer. Just start up a singleplayer game quit out and play multiplayer. Tested over a LAN and it worked fine. Does raise some questions over security through.

Welcome Aureus! :)

I loaded the V152 patch. Blue Marble was still on the intro screen but the terrain was vanilla. I redownloaded and reinstalled Blue Marble. But terrain still vanilla. Any ideas? Am I now messed up for trying?

I think ColdFever needs to update it with each new patch release.
The last version of BlueMarble (V102) should continue to work unmodified after patching (apart from multiplayer, because Firaxis wants to protect this mode from changes). If BlueMarble does not work for you in SP there has to be another problem.

Please try this:

-choose "List affected files" from the BlueMarble installer. Does the installation directory under "My Games" bear the same "main" name as the Civ installation directory? If not, then there is a problem, perhaps with a parallel installation.

- try to run the BlueMarble installer from the Civ installation directory. The BlueMarble installer then ignores any problematic values in the Windows registry and computes the installation directory from the current directory.

- as a matter of last resort you can copy the contents from the BlueMarble installation directory directly into the Civ installations "Assets" directory. But beware - this way you *overwrite* any conflicting original data.

Anybody else with similar problems?

BlueMarble works fine for me but CivScale won't launch... any chance of any update? Thanks! :)

Not working for me with the new patch. Even tried to re-install it...and it still the old graphics. Do like the look of the world when I used this in the past by the way.

[edit] I noticed it will not work if "No Cheating" option is selected. Because when I start a game without that checked, it has the Blue Marble terrain.

No you need to wait for the new Blue Marble to be released. It only works with a specific version.

Yeah, the regular games are fine but for some reason a custom game reverts to the original.

This is by design of Firaxis. Sorry, it's their decision.

CivScale V1.52 now is available:
http://www.civfanatics.net/~bluemarble

A new feature to improve the readability allows the scaling of Civ4 text fonts, the usage of sans serif fonts and the adjustment of the text background color.

Merry Christmas!

Actually I can play a Custom game with the Blue Marble terrain still. It just selecting the "No Cheating" option when starting a game seems to force the older graphics on the game. I know that the case because my current game was a custom game, but I didn't used "No Cheating"...and I got the Blue Marble terrain.
