I think he's using the Mercenary mod. There's no way to get a named soldier otherwise I don't think.

What ever you do do not modernize him ... if you do Bob will surrender or cut and run.

you can rename a unit, town, or just about anything in the normal (1.61 patch) game

Thats pretty good for an axemen, although its not uncommon for generals to have hundreds even over 1000 exp in rare cases.

Having a 50/60 Exp+ unit in Vanilla is crazy.
Warlords is much easier, I think. >>

Lol in WB you can give cities up to 1000 pop and units 1000 exp (and lvl 1000)
