BoG 3 - Deity Minus

Tonsoffun. That's really bad luck. I had something similar a couple of months ago and it was a pain. Hope it gets sorted easily.

I've got it then. I'll try my hardest to play it tonight. Got a mini feast going on, so I might possibly need my 48 to play it.

With people away for a while, what are we going to do? Keep playing?

keep on trucking! just play as much as possible, but try to slow things down a bit.

Ill keep a Watchfull eye on this Thread :).

Have a look about, things seem to be going OK. I probably would opt for war with Egypt over Arabia, more gains to make, but we can certainly add those 2 Arab cities to ours.

Tweak things a bit:
Change Sinop to walls - too corrupt for a courthouse. Edrine to Horseman - warrior will be too late. Bursa Rax > Marketplace - few shields - lots of commerce. Kafa > Courthouse - 50% corrupt. MM a little. Move the scientist from Edrine to Bursa, so it can grow.

Diplo check - can trade Egypt Engineering + 65 gold for Feudalism. Will hold off for 1 turn to link Iron and upgrade warriors to swordsmen for less cash.

IT: Rome offers ROP + alliance vs Egypt. Gift them world map as a way of saying no thanks.
Istanbul Warrior > Market Place. Iznik Warrior > Aqueduct. Ankara Rax > Walls.

290BC - upgrade 7 warriors for 280 gold. gather force to squish Bukhara. Execute trade with Egypt - costs extra 35 gold, but saved that in sword upgrades.

IT: Egypt and Rome butcher each other in our territory. Egypt is making stupid moves and goes first - they are getting eaten alive.

270 BC - Mini SOD towards Rabs.

IT: War continues Romans beating on Egypt. They have about 20 MDI+Legions marching on Egypt, who have tons of horsemen and a total inability to use them. Istanbul riots - cannot believe I missed that. Sorry.

250 Kill an arab archer. Continue with a lot of irrigation, we are in Republic - might as well enjoy the benefits :)

IT: RAB stack moving to reinforce. Too little - too late.

230 Upgrade 2 MDI.

IT: More fighting. Uskudar Rax > Horseman.

210 Capture Bukhara losing a swordsman and promoting another.

IT: RNG goes silly - we lose an elite swordsman to a regular warrior, then beat an elite MDI with a vetran horse

190 Position troops.

IT: Romans capture Lisht. Burkhara riots.

170 Capture Fustat - demonstrating the power of MDI! lose a swordsman. No more cities to capture and we're just going to get beat up. Going rate for Monoethism is 200+44gpt. They will give us a 25gpt discount with peace, but there are no trades. They give us 20g and 10gpt. I take it.

IT: Konya Pike > Marketplace.

150 Monotheism has been traded about a bit now. Think it's time to buy it, we don't want to fall behind. Decide to buy from Rome for Ivory, Gems 18gpt and change. This ought to stop the 15-20 troops ROPing through our territory from getting feisty,. They are the smallest possible buyer, so it will help them the least. Did not want to trade with the Arabs as they are powerful already. Start on chivalry... that'd give us a nice edge.

IT England + Rome sign alliance against Egypt. England has 1 city left :) Istanbul Mplace > Library. Edrine Horse > Library. Izmit Rax > Mplace. Sinop Walls > Library.

130 Nothing too much

IT: Aydin Rax > Courthouse. Salonka Pike > Courthouse. Arabs getting hanging gardens.

110 Nothing too much.

Summary:
Think these turns could have gone better, but they wern't a total write off (I hope) :) Was tired after a bad day at work!

We have more marketplaces coming online soon, which should help the economy. With a few of them and some libraries we could start our own research at a reasonable place. In general I've been trying to mine hills and irrigate to help our Republic grow.

Istanbul could be a powerhouse of a city. The hills need working and some worker merges would turn it into one of the best cities I've ever seen. It NEEDS MMing next turn when it grows.

Rome has no horses, Egypt no iron. I would be inclined to keep it that way! Because of this Egypt is defending with spears. They are also totally gassed from fighting Rome. We could probably chew off a large chunk of their country with an eye to building the FP there, but need to be fairly quick, otherwise the Romans will do it. I've started sending our MDI, swords and horses in that direction. If we attack it must be decisive and organised, with all our troops grouped together!

Our defenses need looking at as well. Reckon we should build horsemen instead of MDI and upgrade them with chivalry - we could do some serious damage then.

Tech isn't too bad - some are ahead invention and theology (and Monarchy). Don't think there's much beyond that. We should buy them when they get to common knowledge - costs a lot, but is better than falling miles behind.

Anyway, I'm feeling seriously burned out, so I've booked some holiday - going away for a long weekend, I should be back on Wednesday next week...

I guess I'm up next with Snaproll out for a few days also. With the holiday, I'll need most of my 48Hrs to play/post.

BoG is it okay for me to download the 4000BC save to try and -hopefully- to complete this game for myself? It'll be my first deity game. I like the starting position and the minus idea, should make things a little easier.

+SeVeS

go ahead SeVeS. you can compare how you did when you finish.

Sorry about the delay. I was having trouble getting to the Forum.

Start off by looking around to see what I want to change.
Bukhara and Fustat get a starvation diet to lose the Arabs natives and swap to libraries to build up some culture.
Sinop to Courthouse
Ankara to Library
Istanbul to Cathedral
Edrine to Marketplace

IBT Iriquois start Sun Tzu's & Leo's...Romans start Leo's...Indians start Leo's...Celts start Sistine

90BC Isnik aquaduct-->market...Uskudar horseman-->granary...Mass movement of troops and workers East to block 2 Roman settler pairs and an Egyptian pair...I'm not sure if they are after that Iron or there is another resource up there they want. It will be another 13 turns before our border expands to cover the iron. I'm sending a settler up there now.

IBT Everyone wants a ROP with us but I pass. Do buy Iriquois map for ours and 31g. Celts land a settler way up north and Roman settlers retreat.

70BC move people around. Build Bingol for 3rd city in the south to secure the border with Rome and start a library.

IBT Take England’s 18g for our WM. They are not going to last much linger.

50BC Uskudar riots...Andana courthouse-->aqueduct

IBT Rome takes Giza

30BC Bursa completes market-->settler. Decide we need a Harbor and rush it in Sinop for 300g.

10BC Sinop goes back to courthouse.

10AD Kafa Courthouse-->Market Buy Chivalry from India for MW+23GPT+209g. Trade Chivalry+ivory+4GPT to Egypt for Invention+WM+2g. Trade Chivalry+WM+14GPT+15g to Hiawatha for Theology and WM. We are all even in tech except for Monarchy, which we can get from England for any front line MA tech. Start researching Printing Press.

IBT India start Sistine

30AD Bursa settler-->cathedral…Antalya courthouse-->market

IBT Roman's complete Sun Tzu's in Antium

50AD Istanbul cathedral-->Library…Urfa library-->market…Build Riza to the far north and starts Library.

Iriquois start Leo's & Sistine

70AD nothing

90AD Istanbul Library-->Pikeman Mugla library-->granary Bingol riots because the road there has yet to complete. I gave England Monotheism and Engineering for Monarchy, because they are down to their last city. The spare settlers and troops are around Adana.

This was a quiet builder’s turn. We will have a few of these in a row, which will be good. All of my tech buying has out paced our production capabilities. I locked us up into about 16 more turns of peace with Egypt with the tech trading for several reasons. We are a long way from out UU, we do not have the army to attack with strength, we are caught up in tech, and we need some serious infrastructure building completed. I have Istanbul building pikemen every other turn now. These can replace the older units in our border cities.
We are in such a great place, it is hard to believe this is Deity, even w/o the extra settler. The next leader or 2 needs to decide where to put the Forbidden palace. I would vote for Adana, Iznik or Antalya. We should have done this about 1000 years ago. We also need to focus on a victory type to focus on. All the options are on the table.

Good turns! Its good to hear that we are all caught up on tech. I'm finishing up a solo deity game in the mop up stage (modern armor vs. mass infantry) and i was dissapointed on how easy it was :(. btw, thanks for doing the roster.

Hi everyone, just wanted to let you know that I'm back from vacation, and ready to play!

Since CivGeneral hasn't checked in since BoG added him to fill in, I thing that would put BoG up now.

Its baseball season and i only have time for 6 turns.

Preturn -analyze the situation. Upgrade some pikemen

Turn 1 - iznik builds mplace, starts on library

Turn 2 - Change antalya from mplace to aqueduct

Turn 3 -nouthin much. Just buildin, buidin, buildin...

Turn 4 -iznik finishes library, starts on leo’s as a prebuild for anything. Izmit builds mplace, starts on library

Turn 5 -nothing

Turn 6 -edrine finishes mplace, starts on library. Hmm. Everyone seems to have aquired PP, gunpowder, and education on the same turn. Lets see what I can do. We don’t need any of them right now, so ill leave it up to next leader. Speaking of which, I have to stop early and let next leader finish up my turn. I have to hurry. Sorry.

I got it.

Can play it this evening, but lack net access over the weekend, so might need the full 24+48, will try and borrow a connection to upload them if possible.
