Bolivar Leader Overview

No such luck. He has the goatee in the livestream.
That's unfortunate. It is also quite bizarre to hear the Mexican theme during the duration of Simón Bolívar's First Look, considering the Mexican theme is quite strongly associated with Mexico and Bolívar, well, isn't. That's like having "O Canada" playing in the background of a George Washington First Look. The Spanish theme would have been more fitting, as it is based on colonial Baroque music composed in the Viceroyalty of Perú, which actually included territories which were later part of Gran Colombia (such as Quito), also, Bolívar was briefly president of Perú while also being president of (Gran) Colombia.

Bolívar should have either a mountain/hills starting bias (considering that Bogotá and most major cities in Colombia are in the Andes mountains), or tropical starting bias, to somehow represent the tropical coastal regions of Venezuela and Caribbean Colombia.

I, as a Colombian, love the fact that Simón Bolívar is back in Civilization. However, it would have been cool to see other Colombian leaders introduced, such as La Pola or Francisco de Paula Santander. I guess Bolívar is more famous abroad and will probably become a staple for future games and we'll neve see other Colombian/Venezuelan leaders.

His leader abilities are quite fitting, historically speaking and I quite like that they are grounded on real historical events. Even though I am happy with the historical background of his leader abilities, agenda, etc. I still find it weird that they strayed rather far from his historical portrayals and tried to give him a Zorro like appearance that completely alters his recognisability and iconic look that everyone in South America can identify. They game him a more "Mexican soap opera TV appearance" which I find rather hard to comprehend. This, paired with him being paired with Mexico in the First Look video, looks like a rather gross oversimplification or overgeneralisation of Latin America as a whole.

I hope they get to fix this in the future by adding a proper Mexican leader, a (Gran) Colombia civilization and the return of Brazil, with a corresponding leader for them as well.

I assume it was just picked on the basis that Mexico is Bolivar's most strategically (and for now, geographically) suitable civ to play as, as is the case with other leader's that don't have exact respective civs but have more loosely associated ones (e.g. Charlemagne and the Normans)

Recurring Playable Leader. He's made to match with Mexico while historically not.
Looking forward whether if Chuang Bunnag will show up as PC? if so he should begin as Persia in Age 1 (his ancestor came from there.), then Chola in Age II before becoming Siamese in Age III
