For some reason, I'm quite psyched about this game (Borderlands...). Coop first person shooter with random loot almost-RPG-character-skills-developpment-Diablo-esque and gazillions of stuff to pick up and procedurally generated random maps? Well sure, I'm sure the "millions of guns" claim will turn out to be something disappointing, but the replay value in this still seems pretty high. After all, Left 4 Dead only has the co-op part and it was pretty awesome.

I see this game is generating huge amounts of excitement here.

It's now available on Steam for pre-order with a 5$ rebate. I'm not sure if I'll get it from Steam since there are other outlets like Gamersgate who have a similar rebate but their release date is a few days later for some reason... At least that's how it's listed.

If you don't know about the game, you should probably check it out. As I said, seems like it's going to be like Left 4 Dead, except with character classes, inventory, levels, skills and procedurally generated equipment, enemies and levels. Not sure why I'd get L4D 2.

i watched some of the youtube previews, it looks interesting enough for me to pay attention to any reviews.

I will probably get it. If it has any replayablility that is.

Can we get a list of Borderlands players and what class they're likely going to use? I don't feel like playing with pubbies in a game with FFA loot system

It looks somewhat intriguing but I'm not really into the cell-shaded look...and I'd prefer if they'd let you diversify what your player looked like more. They all look too outrageous to me. :p

I'll be a player, I'm Rubrum on Steam.

I get the feeling that, if this game is what I have seen announced (ie not what happened with Spore), a lot of the nay-sayers will be buying it ;)

Character models are nearly static in countless other games. Diablo type RPGs and TF2 etc.

Game is out on the consoles now.

Now we, fellow PC gamers, just have to wait for the PC release date of next Monday, 26th. Game was given a random marketing-ploy-fake-delay for the PC about a month ago. Yay.

Anyway, good thing I have a lot of work to do this week...

Or to 30th for us Europeans  Just pre-ordered the game.

I'm starting to rethink my original position on this game...with the CoD MW2 multiplayer fiasco, and seeing some interesting previews of this game, I may get it. :) The only thing is I've heard it's kind of designed as a co-op game....or at least a much better game co-op. I don't know many, if any, people getting it I don't think. Well excluding you SimonL lol. Is this true?

There is currently a big uproar about the PC release date. This is because loads of stores didn't figure out that there were 6 days of difference between the console and PC release dates and put the PC copies on the shelves at the same time as the console ones... So people bought the PC version, installed it at home, and are furious or confused about the fact that it doesn't boot or install because the game is still "locked" and the activation won't work...

Community managers on the official forums are monitoring... Maybe we'll get a surprise this week-end? ..

Also, for Hammurabi II, it'll be a rather different type of first person shooter. You'll see damage points and have to shoot enemies many times for them to die. Basically, if you like random loot, and think a weird combination of Diablo and Left 4 Dead and are excited, then you should check it out I guess. Yeah, it puts emphasis on co-op I think, although a lot of people have been playing it single player too, since, I think, the PS3 online version doesn't work yet. And they still seem to enjoy it.

I don't know how many people will play it, I don't know more than like one myself really. I'll just have to play with random people I guess and swear at them for stealing loot and being childish. I dunno. It just sounds like it's really my type of game.

Like hell, they put it in for a reason and I don't see why they would just lift it like that

*sigh*. Well obviously predictable result: they decided to not release before the date they had planned, leaving thousands of people with hard-copies of a game that won't work until Monday. Hopefully they know why the game doesn't work. Does 2K really think people all check internet forums?

They said they were afraid the game was going to be wildly available on Torrents the minute they put it live and that they were not going to be able to tell everybody and all retailers to forget the 26th date and release now after all.

1) Game will end up on Torrents anyway, people who want to download it illegally will download it illegally anyway

2) It doesn't matter if they can't reach everyone to tell them the release date is now and not on the 26th.

Why does it have to be so hard and complicated to like PC games? Why am I guilty of something?

If it's really possible to play online with the pirated version then eh. Right now I feel that neither 2K nor Gearbox really deserve my money
