ahhhh I dont think so mate.

Your cpu 2.4Ghz
My cpu 2.6Ghz
Your ram 512Md SD
My ram 512Mb DDR Dual channel

Just bragging ;)

Ah, but...

Your Processor - AMD Athlon, mine - P4. Athlons have quite a problem with overheating, and just because it says its a 2600 doesnt mean it is 2600 Mhz. It may run some applications at that speed, but not all.

Yours - 40Gg Seagate Barracuda IV HDD
Mine - 80 Gb 7500 RPM

So :p

Anyways, i didnt say that mine was the best , just that it is ONE of the best. :)

Yeh I know I was just having a dig ;)

BTW. That is a BIG hard drive you've got, I feel quite comforatable with my HDD size as everyone knows it's not how big it is but how you use it ;)

But if its big and you know how to use it then you're going to have a great time ;)

Ive used up 33 Gigs already, so i think the size is just right :)

Mikoyan - I dont upgrade regularly either. This is my first new pc since 1997...

My computer is probably the opposite to all these listed.
Not much to brag about, except for two things. Cache, and Video.

My DELL PC:
PII 400MHz with L2 Cache, 512kb
8Gb HD & 6Gb HD used for backups
10BASE T/100BASE TX Fast Ethernet
128Mb SDRAM
32Mb PCI NVidia Graphics
5.6kbits/s Conexant Modem
15" CTX Monitor
Windows 95b (my one let down!! No PTW.)
48x CDRom
Civilization 1,2,3
Crystal Sound

Please don't laugh! I'm rather happy with it, except for a few things. (My 'income' isn't that great currently, 'cause I'm 14!)

I've got a great machine.

Its a 486 processor
5 1/4 inch floppy
80 Meg hard drive
SVGA monitor

At least that's the one that I have Civ I on. :)

The one I play Civs II and III on is an HP

2.2 Meg processor
20 Gig hard drive
36X DVD/CDROM
All the other sound and video toys that were top of the line two years ago :p

Nothing to brag about but I can play Civ so I'm not complaining.

My secondary computer, it is, like the main one, a totally recycled machine.

CPU: Pentium II @ 333MHz
RAM: 128mb PC-133 SDRAM
HDD: IBM 21.05GB
Graphics: ATI Rage 128, 16MB
3com network card
48x CD-ROM (half-broken)
Floppy Drive

OS: Windows 98

I need another stick of 128mb RAM... badly.

Not much to brag about...

eMac
700MHz PowerPC G4
640MB SDRAM
40GB Ultra ATA Drive
NVIDIA GeForce2 MX w/32 MB of DDR SDRAM
32X CD-ROM
17" CRT

Mac OS 10.2.6

I have a 400MHz and 1GHz AMD Wintel PCs that my other family members use, but the eMac is my baby :).

Mine's a beast!

Compaq Presario 1500...laptop baby!
2.4 Ghz P4
512 RAM
40 Gig drive
wireless lan...

Yeah, that's right...sometimes I post from the throne-room ;) I'm so decadent, it's not funny! :p

Brag:

My keyboard and mouse sit upon a fixed tray just above thigh level. This is very comfortable. I can look down and see the keys, mouse, and my hands, because the desk front is glass. This is very functional. The monitor is set low, slightly into the desk plane, angled directly towards my face. I can keep a balanced, natural posture. I built this.

Gives new meaning to the term wiping your hard drive ;)

I might just boast about the beast ;) i go on CfC with...

P3 550Mhz
128 Mb SD RAM
32Mb Tnt 2 graphics
14Gb Hard Drive
21" Monitor
Cambridge Soundworks (surround sound) speakers, and a heck of a good sound card
Dvd
Cd writer

:)

Nothing to brag about, but I home built this system and it's been such a good baby to me.

My Antec mid-tower holds a

Gigabyte GA-71EXH motherboard
1.0 GHz AMD Duron with the Volcano 6 heatsink/fan
512MB PC-133 RAM
52x CD-ROM drive
Imation Superdisk 120MB floppy/high capacity drive
40GB Western Digital 7200RPM ATA 100 HD
32MB Guillemot Maxi-Gamer Cougar graphics card
5-channel sound card
17" Samsung 753DF Flatscreen monitor

Some older components here, but it runs great, and is more than adequate for what I use it for. And, it runs quite cool for only having one intake and one exhaust fan: CPU ~42C; Internal ~35C.

I'm still tweaking and adding parts here and there, but the currently functional model of the PC that I'm building has the following:

Motherboard: Chaintech 9CJS has intel 875p chipset, and supports 800 mhz FSB

CPU: 3.0 GHz Pentium 4C

DRAM: 1Gig Corsair DDR400 PC3200

Graphics card: ATI All-in-Wonder 9700 pro

Soundcard: on board Envy 24 Audio 7.1 surround sound

Hard Drives: 2 serial ATA 10,000 RPM 36 Gig western digital raptors in RAID 0

Case/PSU: Aluminum King Win, with blue cold cathodes, and Antec True control 550 Watt Power supply

Floppy: Sony Standard Floppy

Optical Drives: two old drives Samsung DVD-Rom and HP Cd-RW (taken from a crappy old HP Pavilion)

6-in-1 card reader: memory stick etc.

Blaster V.92 56k Modem

Ethernet, blah, blah, blah,

Plans for the near future (when I can find more money ;)) Add an internal Zip 750, add another hard drive (7200 RPM at least 120 Gigs), replace the optical drives, with a new faster DVD-ROM, and a DVD +/- RW combo drive.

Thanks :D :D

I'm liking it, I'm really looking forward to the "finished" product.

Now I just have to convince my wife that the new drives etc. are worth the expense

Ahhh, the never ending story. "Why do we need an upgrade? The computer works fine!" These are timeless wifely responses. ;)
