That sentiment is almost too stupid to comment. I haven't seen anyone arguing that you should let your kid starve just to show some public discretion. When your child shows some signs of wanting to eat, by crying for example, will you -
1. Whip a breast out while you walk to not let your child starve for more than 2 seconds?
2. Refuse to walk more than 20 feet and sit down in wherever to not let your child starve for more than 10 seconds?
3. Walk 50 feet to a somewhat secluded bench or place where you can breastfeed in calm and relative privacy?
What if you're at a restaurant engaged in conversation or otherwise engaged in something you don't want to walk away from? Babies breastfeed ALOT when they are newborns. 99.99% of women will do it discretely but it's not something they should have to run away to do. You could compare it to sneezing or blowing one's nose (absolutely necessary if one is ill, often dozens of times a day). You wouldn't tell a sick person to go hide in a closet every time they had to do it.

How about the prude who paradoxically cannot keep his eyes off your breast walk away to some deserted park bench?

And technically that's more justified than telling a breastfeeding woman to hide herself.

That's true, a sick person is some threat to you while a breastfeeding woman is not (maybe a psychological one, all the more reason you should go off to a park bench & introspect on it :p).

The word "sentiment", I do not think it means what you think it means.
Was it used in a wrong way?

I've only asked for discretion. I appreciate when people are considerate enough not to sneeze or cough straight out also. I also appreciate parents having some control over their children.

It's amusing that you so well fit the "Feed where we please"-group.

The prudes can do whatever they want, I don't mind, but how about some guy watching your partner breastfeed? Would that be ok by you? I wouldn't, but you're a progressive and tolerant guy, aren't you?!

What's that supposed to mean?

Well my partner quit breastfeeding a few days ago but I don't recall any problems (at least none she told me about).

I think a man is more likely to stare at a woman's butt walking down the street than staring at her breastfeeding an infant. A woman's breast is sexy, a woman's breast with a squirming toddler sucking on it, not so much.

Yeah, you seem to have it confused with "accusation".
No, I don't think so, maybe you just misunderstood my post?!

What's that supposed to mean?
It's from that Onion-video on last page.

I agree and the most respectful way to breastfeed is to show some discretion. I don't ask for more than the effort, just like I would expect people around a breastfeeding woman to show normal and polite concern toward her.

Oh, so that's why you got so defensive at the guy's wife's thoughts.
