Bring Back The Polar Bears!

i was looking at the whale (blue whale) art in-game last night. There are a couple variations I've seen. One swims in a circle, round and round. The other loops around in and out of the water. I would think that one could appropriate that whale art (the one that loops in and out of water) and turn it into an orca pretty easily. it already has the tail in the correct orientation, it has the blowhole / mist-puff already too. so you'd just need to tweak it a bit: stretch out the dorsal fin, taper the head, and paint!

The issue isn't the art itself, it's the animation. Which is not nearly so easily adapted.

Otherwise some one would have turned the Crabs resource into a Giant Crab of Death unit.

I bring attention back to this thread for no reason! Actually, reason! 18 "Yays" in favor of bringing back the majestic polar bear and 10 "Donuts" which I take as "Yay's for the polar bears!

Screw game balance; Polar bears are like tanks--it's just not a good game without them. And since I don't think tanks will appear in this mod, I'll take my polar bears!

i would like to see polar bears walking on ice (the feature type of ice that is also in water, not the terain type of ice). that would be some kind of unique, only flying units can enter ice at the moment i think.

That would be nice... But ultimately dangerous IMHO, capturing one early would mean an almost sure "first to prove the world is round" event, since:

A) A single bear would probably be able to cross the entire world on polar ices

B) He risks very little since only bears and some other creature are spawned there IIRC

I think that any polar bears that spawn on tundra or ice are polar bears and anywhere else are just bears. Seems easy enough to me.

i only play flat maps so i wouldnt mind
a (hippo)griffon is still better imho and he can also use the save polar ice way

I always thought the whales looked like sperm whales. I could be wrong.

And I totally support Polar bears in the game. ^^
