Got u
How is monarchy a semi-good form of goverment. It puts all the power in one man just because they are born. I only wish to depose elizebeth because she costs tax payers millions a year.
And replace them with what?Hang the queen, everyone else gets life in prison.
Problem solved.
Prove itI disagree.
From all accounts, the Queen never exits a limousine wearing no knickers...
In what way is the Monarchy "more special" than the rest of us? True, they are born into a life where they need not worry about finances, but then so are many others with inherited wealth.I have little about the monarchy in England but they are the most prominent of all the monarchy and i think its a good step for them to start the domino effects of removing all "royalties" around the world. The newly democratic world does not need these "special" ppl, coz no human is "specialier" than the other.
In fairness it really is quite cheap given the return we get. Especially when you consider that most of those costs would not simply vanish if we removed the Monarchy. The first think most people think of when they hear "Britain" is Queen. Monarchy is a symbol of Britain, it has very long history and it would be incredibly stupid to abolish it just because it is not cheap.
And replace them with what?
As opposed to the elected Prime Minister who is accountable to his elected Members of Parliament?Ideally, nothing, but I suppose some kind of elected President.
We have a constitution, possibly one of the oldest in the World. What is so fundamentally wrong with the way it's working now?You might want to throw a constitution somewhere in there as well.
Prove it![]()

Those within the Monarchy find themselves placed under the media spotlight from Birth. They're trained in how to speak, act, believe and they can't leave their home without an armed guard. This is true of other people I know, but only the Monarchy has forfieted the right to choose their own lifestyle.
Each time a member of the royal household voices an opinion it is scrutenised and criticised. Each time they leave the palace they are followed and photographed every step of the way. Each time they turn on the TV these days they see the death of their mother, wife, daughter, plastered on 40 foot screens for our entertainment.
Given the freedom I enjoy and the life they are born into, I can't see that they are "more special" than any of us.

I attend wedding dinners regularily and I've never been served first there either. What's your point? That people have a higher status? That's true of everyone, not just the royals.wait till u attend a court dinner and see who gets to serve 1st ? anyway, their special status is indisputable.
Same would happen if a member of Take That was rushed into hospital. They don't have a royal bloodline either as far as I can tell.Try to see if they were rush to hospital and then the doctor tell them to wait in the line.
Name a country that has one.No, a President/Prime Minister combo.
In what "true constitutional sense" do you mean? Written? Bill of Rights? Constitutional Court? No you don't, not in the true constitutional sense. You need a constitution a la USA or Canada.

Nor were they given any choice. In fairness, I would also say that they do work for it. It's not the case that she sits on her arse all day modelling her crown.BUT, they are born with a higher status, thats the different. They dont need to work their asses for it.
And if a member of Royal blood and Tony Blair were taken to a hospital? If a member of Royal blood and a take that were taken to the hospital, guess who will be served 1st ?

The link I showed you gave the engagement lists of other members of the Royal family too. Admittedly, there are a few 'hangers on' who shouldn't get any state funding, but I think it's fair to say that the Royal Household at least does it's fair share for the country. But most do not. See princess, princes and others. Nontheless, i like to say that The british royalties are ahead of others and showing a good example.
And yet it's partly the desire to be "normal" that has the 3rd in line to the Throne heading off to IraqBut for the sake of world wide Democracy. its a small price to pay and definitely better than invading Iraq.
But I'm not concerned with what other nations choose to do with their Monarchy. I'm not saying that the British Constitution is any better or worse than that of others. What I'm saying is that given the historical development of the British Constitution, it's the best for Britian IMO.Royalties around the world will be removed. Saudi Arabia, Jordan, malaysia, Brunei, Japan, Some small africa states, Nepal, Thailand, Cambodia etc etc.
I think we shall have to agree to disagree on this pointIf its the queen and only 1 bag of blood left. I think poor Tony got to step aside. + Tony worked for it.
God save the queen
'cos tourists are money
Make a stack in tourist etc revenue from the monarchy
has no power anyway, why bother.
And the Monarchy is the living advertisement for that brickwork.so, no monarchy no tourists? see a list of the top 10 tourist attractions. the brickwork is the draw.
