Hello everyone. Looking around, all the threads I keep coming across deal with either Vista or a pre-317 patched version, which doesn't quite apply in this case.

The issue is that when attempting to manually install the 3.19 patch, after getting to "install", the installer window closes followed sortly by that process. And then it still stays at version 317. The issue seems to be spanning multiple computers even.

In both cases, I'm running XP SP3. Both work fine with 317, and there aren't any errors showing up in the windows event viewer.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

Hello. It's from the CD version. I tried the patch from the updater (though I heard there were issues), as well as from the civfanatics link and another, I think. There aren't any error messages. My last attempt at installing tried to minimize other programs in the background as much as possible at least.

As an update, I was able to get it installed on my main computer by uninstalling it and then reinstalling it, plus reinstalling Warlords. So I'm not sure it's any program running necessarily causing an issue, as I generally have the same.

On a possible dumb-me note, would mods need to be removed before updating? I don't recall doing so before, but that's the main difference I can really think of at present.

Ok, nevermind. On an "I'm dumb before" note, I just managed to fix it. I noticed I got an error when trying to uninstall BTS, though (I went to try a reinstall). As a possible help to other people, think that was the cause?

Best I can think of would be trying to update it with the built in updater broke it? Or something unrelated.

Thank you for the help though. :)

mods should not interfere with the install/patch - if you receive an error message during uninstall its possible that some registry key is missing and/or that the installshield folder got corrupted somehow - you could try to force a new installation of that by renaming or deleting the program files\common files\installshield folder
