Version 0.75 posted.
Look what I've learned today:
"We don't want the AI to necessarily outwit the player (which is relatively easy),..." from Steve Rabin
So, you can scrap your efforts! Better AI - pah! Unnecessary! That the original AI is too thick to attack and unable to defend itself is intended! The developers just go easy on us players!
from the same article on the AI. I think he has FPS's in mind, even though the article is written as though it's general gaming. I would agree that "outwitting" the human in a FPS game is relatively easy.
Yeah, FPSs are very different ... Civ would be a lot harder if all the AI players decided to declare war on you immediately! It's the constraint that the AI has to play within some acceptable sense of roleplaying, along with the long term strategy requirement of a 4X game, which makes the civ AI so much more difficult to get right.
Yes, yes, you are both right of course - I just got angry when I read that.
Version 0.76 has been posted.
Version 0.77 for the new BTS 3.19 patch is out! A couple small fixes in addition to the merge to 3.19.
I kept the UP fix for production overflow since the 3.19 "fix" is broken.
Version 0.78 for BTS 3.19 is up. Highly recommended that you upgrade, this version fixes a couple of bugs in 3.19 and prior BBAI versions.
I downloaded some months ago a previous version of Better AI and would like to download this new one.
How do I do it? Shall i just install the new version or do i have to delete it by hand?
This is a great mod!
Qwert, since there was an official patch in the mean time, I think the order is:
1. Finish all your existing game(s) that you care to finish.
2. Upgrade from BTS 3.17 to BTS 3.19 by downloading and installing that patch.
3. If you installed Better AI as a mod, I guess you could delete it there if you really wanted to but I doubt it will hurt anything to leave it in. (Other than some extra are you sure you want to replace file warnings).
4. Upgrade Better AI by downloading and installing it. (If you did it as a mod and kept the files then in the same directory to overwrite).
Thank, you Joncnunn.
I had already downloaded and installed 3.19, and did as you say. It seems yhay all is working well. (I had a game saved in 3.17 and Better 0.50, which seems to be running well after upgrading all.)
Do you will create a 40 civ gamecore.dll for 3.19 too?
You can always get the 48 civ dll for the current version of the mod here.
Thx a lot. It works fine for all features I have.
Not ONLY, It also correct some Strange CRASH TO DESKTOP I had on the previous Dll I used.
I am sorry but i am getting confused with folders / mods / assets and custom assets.
I would like to install bug 3.6 with "Advanced Combat Odds v1.3 + Better BtS AI v078C".
So i let Bug install it's files in the 'custom assests' folder and drop all files from the ACO assets folder in the mygames/[...]/assets folder ?
Generally I would recommend avoiding installing any mod by the Custom Assets method.
Any mod that uses a custom DLL (like BULL, ACO and Better AI) can not load a DLL from custom assets. Instead you would need to replace the game's DLL which is a bit of stuffing around.
Your best bet would be to install BUG as a stand-alone mod. This should create a BUG folder in your mods folder. After extracting the BBAI+ACO zip file, locate the folder in it called Assets. You should copy the entire contents of the Assets folder to the assets folder in the BUG folder. If that doesn't get the mod working, you might have to follow further instructions in this thread: http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=296534
EDIT... I'm a little unsure what will happen with the few Python files that overlap between BUG and BBAI. Over-writing BUG's ones with BBAI's might break it - I'm not sure.
Planetfall can now be added to the list of mods that use Better AI!
Any release date for the next version?
There keeps being more important stuff for the next UP ... I was intending to put the UP up Friday and then BBAI over the weekend, it still looks possible that this will work, depends on testing.
Version 1.10 of the UP 3.19, this will be included as usual within and separately from BBAI? These types of changes should be mandatory for any mod imho. Do you think firaxis will release one more patch?
Separate names with a comma.
