MYCENAE
What is Civ of the Week?
Civ of the Week is a project aiming at bringing you a new, fresh, exotic, and most of all, random, civ every 1-2 weeks, from all corners of the globe, from the Vietnamese to the Mittanni to the Iraqis.
Each civilization features full civilopedia text entires, 1-2 leaders with slightly more unique attitudes (they're not simply a copy of another leader), a UU, a UB, audio, and full graphics.
The purpose of Civ of the Week, then, is two-fold:
1. To bring you random civs that would probably not have been chosen as civilizations first of all, and to provide a new, more exotic, more interesting experience in choosing civilizations.
2. To promote more knowledge of lesser-known peoples, cultures, and histories.

Statistics and Information for the Mycenaeans:
Description: The Mycenaeans were one of the civilizations that flourished in the southern Balkans before the coming of Classical Greece, along with the Minoans, the kingdom of Arzawa, and so forth. They flourished in the 1000s BC, before falling into decline.
To the Greeks, the Mycenaeans formed part of their many legends and myths, especially that of the Trojan War. The brother-in-law of Helen, Agamemnon was, after all, the ruler of Mycenae. Whether an actual Trojan War happened is still in dispute amongst scholars, but regardless, the historical Mycenae was a very powerful political entity in its heydey. Unlike the more trade oriented Minoans, the Mycenaeans focused much more on their military. The Mycenaeans had chariots, heavy bronze armor, and a navy, amongst many other things.
It is not exactly clear how the Mycenaeans organized themselves politically, although it is certain that they dominated over parts of mainland Greece, the Aegean Islands, Crete, and possibly areas of Ionia. Several cities are believed to have been politically important, besides Mycenae, including Pylos, Tiryns, and Athens. Whether they were independent of each other or united is not exactly clear.
Although Mycenae was military-oriented, they were also probably decent traders. Mycenaean artifacts have been found throughout Anatolia, Egypt, Italy, and even as far as Germany and the Crimea, for example. The Mycenaeans, similar to the Minoans, also organized themselves around large palaces. There would be different craftsmen and specialists in each certain palace. Nobles, priests, and the king's warriors, or eqeta, would also be there.
The Mycenaeans fell into decline in the 1100s through the 800s BCE. There is not a clear consensus as to why. The most commonly accepted belief is that invaders, possibly Dorian Greeks or the Sea Peoples, came through the area and devastated the civilization. The possibility of a natural disaster, such as a volcano, can not be ruled out either. However they fell, the Mycenaeans dissapeared from history and survived mainly only in the poetry and legends of the later Greeks. Regardless, as precursors to the Greeks, they nevertheless serve an important part in history.

Note: the LH has eyes that are a bit... off/cartoony (he looks a bit insane), but I think that adds to the effect he has. And its just plain hilarious. Of course, if you know some Greek mythology, you'd probably think his slightly psycho look would work better for someone else in his family.
And I still can't believe no one has done this before.
