[BtS] Destiny Mod

I've updated the mod to v.2.0F.

The download link is on the first post, with links to FileFront and mirrored to Atomic Gamer.

The new version adds a couple of neat features such as Examine City on Conquest! by Me and others that gives an option to look into a city before you decide to Raze it or keep it.

Also adds the new sentry missions for units. Useful when you want to keep a unit on sentry and wake up when a enemy comes by. Great for injured scouts out in the woods or naval ships protecting resources.

Also fixes a few art and text bugs.

I'll post more later but I'm late to work now!

Enjoy

Would first like to say you have a nice mod here and great job on it. I got it DL'd and installed and started playing and put it on autoturn and after about 160 turns it ctd. I expected this, because lately Vista has just been a huge pain. I have no idea what has lately happened, but most mods now I cant even play, which is a shame. Hopefully, when Win 7 comes out, it will eliminate some of the problems Im having with Vista. Thanks again though, for taking the time to make a great mod!

Have you experienced and CTDs with pure RevDCM since it was updated to 1.00? I'm curious because, using and merging the RevDCM SDK, I'm aware glider builds a debug dll (the info for the debug dll is in his makefile) to test with, which will usually catch the null and other issues with the overly sensetive Vista. Also I haven't had a report of a CTD since WolfRevolution was updated to 1.3.x (well there was one, but it was a very rare art issue that took about 2 years to catch, as it's related to the Wolfshanze city art, anyway that's fixed now...), and I'm under the impression RevDCM is completely stable now, even on Vista systems.

This mod no longer uses RevDCM. It was rebuilt a few versions back from Wolfshaznes Mod and a brand new DLL compiled by myself from the Unofficial Patch base.

The only thing specifically from JDog currently in the mod is AIAutoplay. I'd really like to add Dynamic CivNames because I think it's cool, but he hasn't released his code separately from Revolutions. There is an old version that doesn't work and doesn't provide the SDK code and the other versions I've seen are too integrated in Revolutions that I can't just pull out the Dynamic Civnames portion.

I don't plan to add Revolutions back at any point to this mod because in my opinion it alters the core gameplay too much. If it's just additional civ's you as a player would like, it is possible to play with up to 50 civs by running either a map or adding them to a custom game.

I played a game with version 2.0a over the weekend, and I enjoyed it. Good job.

Cross Cowboy, I had problems with this mod on high graphics, but the game ran fine on low graphics...you may have to switch to run this mod.

I am able to reproduce the crash and like you say, it's not Machu Pichu, it just crashes. I'm not real experienced debugging random crashes like this BUT it seems to be an error in the MSVCP71.dll that is possibly conflicting with the unofficial patch that is included in the custom DLL.

I'll look more into it later, if anyone else has any input please share...

I get that file name from the debugger (not sure I'm using it right but seems to be). And that led me to this thread: LINK

Nice to finally find a Mod I haven't tried yet with a working link! To bad File Front has resorted to using intrusive ads to make money, I thought I blocked all ads for them ( I review all cookies before accepting them ;)) nope, I got 6 more including one that was a new tab on Firefox.

My site offers free file hosting and downloading, no waits, no throttling download speeds, no intrusive ads at all. I already posted about my service for other Mods. We provide, FTP space, Download Mod Studio category with all your work. PM me here or at my site for details. (Thunderfall has been sent a PM he replied it was okay, I'm not taking nothing away from CFC or his host.) I will redirect all support back to your threads here. This is the Civilization Center, we are only the file service. ;)

Ad-Block and NoScript. It's almost impossible to see ads with those two running. Try them first, because File Front is a lot better than Atomic Gamer. It at least allows me to download files. :)

I intentionally have ad block off, to see the file storage sites ads. I'd rather have a site for gamers built by gamers. You don't get it, File Front, Atomic Gamer, file planet, IGN, any of them, are USING EVERYONE to make money off you. These are FREE public domain files, its a rip off doing this. All of these sites make money off hosting and ads, the charges for the downloading is pure profit. I know I did a long research into this, only a few small time sites do need to charge and why they need to be shut down doing it. If you are a large data center or have ability to supply downloading in the right way, free as it should be, fine. If you are leasing servers for hosting, then you are just a greedy making money off the backs of gamers IMHO. (no offense to the host here you guys are a great service ;))

Game Fanatics will never have ads you need to block out, we will never charge, we will never make money off downloading files. We sell games, hardware, other computer related products, website hosting, server leasing.

I do what I do for the love of gaming, the industry and especially the community that has entertained me for the past 30 years.
Okay I will call you crazy, now lets be peaceful, I was offering the Mod designer hosting, not you DavidB1111. You seem to like to make comments to everyone I notice that are a bit out of line. Enjoy yourself!

Well, call me crazy, but if they don't make money off of ads, and seriously, who clicks on them, I don't know, they go bankrupt, and fail, period.

Anyhow, little ads don't bother me. Ah, and don't complain about ads to some websites.
TESNexus is a nice smallish server that needs their ads, otherwise wow, they wouldn't be up and running.

I suggest looking them up. If you like Oblivion, which uses the same engine as Civ 4.

You make some good points, but fanaticism is not good. :)
Or baring that, blind ideological Faith

Oh, and speaking of something weird, this game corrupted itself late after researching Biology, it just completely broke down.

First the tech wouldn't allow itself to be selected, then the game refused to display the overlay. And no key command worked to repair it. :(

Let's hope it doesn't happen again.

will somebody tell me why (and how to fix) my mod? It stops responding at initializing XML, pleas help!

I'll wager a donut he's not patched to 3.17

At least everyone that has reported a crash at initializing XML for BUG, RevDCM, WolfRev, and Legends fixed the issue by patching. Btw, often times this isn't the users fault, as the automatic updater for Civ fails to work, and then lies and tells them they are patched, when in reality they aren't. Regardless the fix is easy, download and install the patch manually from this site.

This Mod does a nice CTD whenever I start a game, get to building my first settler, and CTD. No idea what is causing it, I tried to find it myself for you.

If you need it, I can start another game include the saved game file. I should add, I am running Vista Ultimate, seems some Mods have issues with Vista.

Ads should bother everyone, but whatever. David we both agree to disagree I suppose, and sorry I came across as being Fanatical, that is not what I mean.
I am done talking about my services, again that is not why I am here. I am a Civ IV player, been playing since 1994 or so. :goodjob:

Let me know what is up with the Destiny Mod, it looked so sweet!! :crazyeye:
