[BtS] DIPLOMACY: a mod for Diplogames!

Good work. Thanks a lot.

No problem. By the way, if you need city lists tell me. Except for those I already uploaded here, I've made lists for Assyria and Serbia. I also have lists for Armenia, Croatia, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan already made. I can also do any lists you need (in xml). So feel free to ask.

Assyria would be useful. I already have Serbia made so I don't need a list for them, unless you think the list I have falls short (I think I used one from Madman if IIRC).

Since I have a sickle-sword now and a swordsman model I've already started toying around with some units for Israel (since I use the same units for Babylon as Israel in my mod I decided I have to give Israel a fresh set), the first one I made was a new concept for the Maccabee unit, although this could also be used as an Israelite swordsman as well. Its still a WIP (so some things aren't finalized, and clearly the skin doesn't match) but what do you think so far?

And while I'm at it, here is my plan for the Israelite Archer. The head floating above the body (the same head as the prior unit) will replace the head currently attached to the body. I am posting this now because (a) these are pretty easy units to make, and (b) to see what you guys think so I don't waste my time making an entire set that nobody likes.

Basically the ancient units will generally look like this, the axeman will look similar to the Assyrian axeman, but not the same.

These look great! I look forward to seeing what else you come up with. I'm glad someone is making a unque set for Israel that don't have stars of David plastered all over them :)

Cheers,
ripple01

Yeah, I hated that blue and white arabic-looking star of david motiff that is floating around. I actually used the Babylonian set in my mod because, in my opinion, it looked more Israeli than anything else out there (even though it was still inaccurate). This set will be free of stars of david (I might throw one on the maccabee though, just to give it a more distinct flare). I am going to make them up to the renaissance age (although I might come up with some of those too). Glad to hear the encouraging words though!!! Thanks.

BTW, if you need LHs for CivFusion I have some in my leaderhead gallery (check my signature), I'm not sure if they are the ones you requested but there are some good ones there, I can't do requests right now because I'm working on some new civs and a new mod, plus I have a ton of LHs to make for the mod and some requested ones so I'm booked up.

Well, obviously you'd have to change when some of the resources show up, Capo. I thought that would be obvious.

Aussie.

I guess I could have them show up with mining. But again, don't you think that effects the strategy too much?

It would be nice to have more Israeli-looking units.

Maybe the modern units can have Jewfros.

How do feel about this text for Fidel Castro?

First Contact:
Hola! I am [OUR_NAME], leader of the [OUR_EMPIRE], otherwise known as the greatest country on Earth. Do not listen to the cranky exiles who say that there isn't enough food to eat and that our young ladies are selling their bodies. The fact is, this place is paradise on earth!

Refuse to Talk:
Go away and keep your nasty lies about [CT_CIV_SHORT] in your own country!

No Peace:
You will not escape the revolution. Not even if you try to run away on a raft in the ocean.

Friendly Greeting:
Good evening, [CT_NAME]. Welcome back to [CT_CIV_SHORT], still as great as ever. Would you like a fine [CT_CIV_ADJ] cigar?

Annoyed Greeting:
To quote the exiles who I would throw into prison if they ever returned to [OUR_CIV_SHORT], why won't you die already, [CT_NAME]?

Demand Tribute Weaker:
It's not that often that [OUR_CIV_SHORT] asks other countries for favor, being so prosperous and all, but... pretty please?

Demand Tribute Equal:
We both agree that a trade embargo is a stupid idea. You wouldn't want [OUR_CIV_SHORT] to starve to death like those exiles do, now do you? Then pay up!

Demand Tribute Stronger:
[CT_NAME], your country is set for a socialist revolution right about... now. Or later, if choose to do us this favor.

I've gotta agree on the fact that the Israeli units some other mods use aren't that good. They just seem kinda... silly. Everyone covered in gigantic stars of david.
It's kinda like making all of the US units have stars-and-stripes clothing. ...Except without the added awesome bonus of realizing you can now play "Eye of the Tiger" as your battle anthem.

I am going to attempt to get up a small in-game unit preview for Assyria tonight (if I can), I still haven't decided on the modern units yet. If I decide to do them I'll show a preview later on. As far as the Israeli units go I'll put together a good set for them as well (without looking completely ridiculous) but you guys won't see that until the new mod is made, which is going to be quite a while. Although I might let StrategyOnly use them if he asks nicely. :goodjob:

Actually its a lot worse. Because there actually WERE ancient Israelites that you can use as a base. I have no idea what the original creator of those units was thinking, but they don't look Israeli at all.

What do you think of Fidel's diplotext?

Y'know, it's funny.
I'd always heard how overpowered Phi/Ind was.
To be entirely honest, I feel lied to.

Phi/Ind actually seems like a rather mediocre trait combo, been playing with it in Diplomacy.
Although it boosts you with Great People due to the GPP/wonder synergy, it means you're lacking what other Phi leaders get: A trait that helps with every other aspect of the game.
Phi/Ind is like Agg/Pro. It pretty much just assists one aspect of the game, and leaves you at a disadvantage with other aspects.

I'd say that Phi/Cha is probably my favorite Philosophical trait combo, next to Phi/Exp and Phi/Fin. Higher happiness levels? Check. Boosts your military? Check.

Then again, maybe it's just how I'm playing it.

Also, I'm really starting to love Cha/Prot and Imp/Exp. I guess that's another good thing about mods like this that add more leaders. Gives you more of a chance to experiment with other trait pairings.

It looks fine to me. Anyone else have a problem with it?

I'm putting the first draft of Assyria together at this point, I was wondering if Igor wouldn't mind posting that city list? I need it pretty soon or else I am just going to use Civ Gold's.

I like it, it does sound very realistic.

Its not THAT overpowered really. I think it is pretty powerful though. Its basically for builders. It allows you to build a lot of wonders, which in turn grants you a great deal of culture while also providing you with GP faster because of your philosophical trait. Also a lot of wonders give you free specialists which also help you to create more GP. It isn't that great but its still pretty good. I didn't realize I made anyone Phi/Ind, its probably Solomon though right?
