[BtS] DIPLOMACY: a mod for Diplogames!

And done.
Made a txt listing all of the civs, their leaders (and their traits), their starting techs, their unique units (only listed the differences, except when it comes to +x% against y), their unique buildings (also only listed the differences.)

View attachment 210717

I made this all in a period of a few hours, so there may be a few mistakes/typoes here and there. Just tell me if there are and I'll fix them.

Assyria's colors are very dark orange (139, 69, 0) and orange.

Puerto Rico is (242, 133, 0), and ask tsentom about Philippines.

There are just a few small mistakes (for instance the Conquistador is said to replace the Heavy Footman when it should say Heavy Horseman) but they are pretty minor. Great work!!!

Unfortunately I have to rework the Assyrian units a bit because they didn't come out right. I'll try to have a preview for them soon. And I forgot who I was going to do next, but I'll probably work on Siam after that. Any ideas on the UU or UB for them?

And I like the idea of unhindered barbarian cities turning into civs. I'd like to have more discussion on that.

Also EdgeCrusher had a good idea for civ-specific wonders. They would replace regular national wonders (similarly to UBs) with some minor bonuses. What do you think of that idea?

I'll post you my Assyrian and Serbian city lists when I wake up tomorrow (actually, it is already today here)...
Really looking forward to those Israeli units! I agree the current ones look really absurd. It's like a combination between ninjas and superheroes with Jewish symbols on them...
Oh, yes, I did see you Serb city list, I believe mine is better since it is more "Serbian", but I'll leave that for you to decide.

So you guys know what I am talking about I have posted an image of the ancient and medieval set. I have circled (in green) the problems, basically the heads aren't showing up, I THINK they are actually there but shrunken, although it doesn't look like that in NifSkope. So I am going to package the problem units and get some of the unit makers I deal with to try and fix them for me. Hopefully they can. You can kind of tell what the set will look like from this image though. I tried to make the ancient units more drab (or similar to the flag color) and the medieval more ornate.

You were making assyria then israeli units.

No no no, you've got it all wrong. I was making Assyrian units for this module, which is part of a six-civ pack. I was making the Israeli units for the next version of my mod, which is months away. Therefore the Israelite units will also be a few months away as well.

What I meant by next was the next civ in this module pack. I have already made first drafts of the Apache and Haitians. The Assyrians are next. After that I still have Siam, Puerto Rico and the Philippenes. Hope that clears up the misunderstanding.

Yeah, they are awful. I think Zerver made them, and his work is normally good. It looks like he kind of just threw those together. The set I'm making will be way more accurate as far as the ancient Israelites go. Maybe not perfect (as I am by no means a unit-maker), but they'll be more historically accurate, at least in my view. Not quite sure what to do about the medieval and renaissance units though.

Oh, yes, I did see you Serb city list, I believe mine is better since it is more "Serbian", but I'll leave that for you to decide.

That's perfectly fine. Don't be offended if I don't change the Serbian list until the next mod though. I have a lot of things I'm working on and a city list for a civ I have already released is one of the last things on the list. But if its more Serbian I'll certainly use it when I do the new version of the mod/upgrade the modules.

Thanks again.

EDIT: Actually I'll probably do something similar to the Assyrians, in that the ancient units will look a bit more drab (if you've seen the Israelite Swordsman and Archer I've posted already they'll look like that) and the Medieval guys will be a bit more "gilded" and armored. I do need ideas for their musketman, cuirassier, cavalry and rifleman though. But I think I can come up with something for those.

Here's some funny diplotext for William Lyon Mackenzie King.

First Contact:
Welcome to the [OUR_EMPIRE], first home of hockey, the best part of the world, and soon to be world's largest landmass. My name is [OUR_NAME], and I am [OUR_CIV_ADJ]!

Refuse to Talk:
Why don't you just leave, eh?

No Peace:
I will not have peace with you until you learn that a toque is a hat, a chesterfield is a couch, and that the letter IS prounced zed! Not zee, ZED!!!

Friendly Greeting:
Somebody get me a double-double with maple syrup! Our friend [CT_NAME] has arrived.

Annoyed Greeting:
You're here yet again, eh? Oh well... what's this aboot, you hoser?

Demand Tribute Weaker:
I believe in peacekeeping, not policing, but if you don't comply with me, then I have no reason to comply with my laws, eh?

Demand Tribute Equal:
[CT_CIV_SHORT] wants this, [CT_NAME]. Would you prefer to part with this or be pelted with hockey pucks?

Demand Tribute Stronger:
There's more than one way to skin a beaver, [CT_NAME]. Or in this case, a world leader.

Thais are cobalt blue (0, 71, 171) and Persian pink, by the way.

What should the Siamese/Thai UU and UB be? And what should their stats be? I have Elephant graphic for them if we make their UU an Elephant, but that might be a bit repetative considering the Khmer have one. Although, really, they could have entirely different stats. I have no idea what to make their UB either. Another issue is this; should they be called the Siamese Empire or the Thai Empire? Or should I try and mix the two names together (i.e. call them the Siamese Empire, but call their country Thailand)?

Suggested the UU and UB awhile back:
UB: Ho Trai, replacement for Library
Stats: Gives a small great person boost (on par with the Roman Forum)

UU: Ngawsmen, replacement for War Elephant
Stats: +25% against melee units

Also, I'd go for Siamese Empire over Thai. They haven't really done all that much as Thailand compared to as Siam.

I think Amra's mod had a Ho Trai UB. Ngawsmen would basically be a war elephant, except the soldiers on board would be using a weapon similar to a Guando. If we have anything similar to that.

Ever given thought to doing like, short lived civilizations? Kinda like your idea to add Nazi Germany.

There's a really nice Confederacy civ already made. Maybe even something less serious like a Mormon Civ.
I think conquering the world as Canada has made me crave something even sillier. Conquering the world with Brigham Young would be -awesome-. Oh god if I could make units... all units: mormon attire. They'd still have the same accessories, but they'd have the black pants, white shirt, and black tie.

Greek states could be fun too, but I guess that'd be best for a scenario.

Sorry, I was lost somewhat in front of all the stuff you are showing us. I probably read one of your posts too fast and, thus, made the mistake.
Your Remod will certainly be one I will try, whenever itwill be available. ;)

And some more thoughts:
Thailand/Siam: In my game I call the empire Siamese and the short name is Thailand- so, this could be a compromise about the name. I support the Mahout and Ho Trai ideas for UU and UB. You can find a Thai city list in the file I uploaded earlier with all the city lists I have (there are Polynesian cities there too).
Israel: For the medieval units you could do maybe some knights with a Magen-David on them. The Renaissance units- maybe like Ottoman troops only with a more Jewish look to them. Actually, you can do lots of "what if" units here, like a musketeer with a star of David or something like that... For industrial units there is no problem already, since you could make them look like Palmach/Etzel/Lehi soldiers (actually in my game the Palmach is the UU for Israel and it replaces Rifleman). The modern units are your typical IDF soldiers.
Assyria: Same as Israel, only we have a problem with industrial and modern units as well. They should be like the Babylonians and Sumerians, I think.
Puerto Rico/Philippines: If you need city lists for them, tell me.

The Capo,

I had an idea about a Siam Unique Unit that is not an elephant. How about a Muay Thai kickboxer? It could replace the Warrior...

I personally like Siamese Empire and call the country Siam, but I tend to favor older, historical names over newer ones...

Cheers,

The Siamese/Thai UU will be an Elephant replacement, I'll probably give a melee bonus (I might give it some other type of bonus too maybe) but it will not be called the Mahout (that is not a Thai term, its more of an Indian/Bangladeshi term). The Ho Trai will be the UB and I have a good graphic for it already although I'll take a look at Amra's and compare the two.

I still haven't decided on Thai or Siam. So far the folder the module is in is called Thailand, but all of the files inside start with Siam; just to show you how up in the air I am right now.

@ Igor; good idea for the Israeli units. I have put them on hold for now until I finish this set so I can focus entirely on the new mod when it comes up.

I think we should go for Siamese Empire/Siam. It represents the kingdom more than the Thai ethnic group.
