[BtS] DIPLOMACY: a mod for Diplogames!

I don't know whether or not to be insulted by that comment.

It depends on the unit, some are more difficult to make than others. And of course you need a little imagination too.

But the best way to find out is to try it for yourself.

Insulted? It was meant as a complement! :crazyeye:

I don't think it is that easy to make them, as ASAIK it is similar to making Leaderheads, and for someone to be making such quality units at incredible pace is amazing!

I was joking, I know you didn't mean it to be insulting. But it could sort of be read as such, don't worry though, I know you meant it as a compliment.

I have heard from a lot of people that making units is easier than making LHs, although I have found the opposite to be true, so who knows. I only make the ones I really need so that's basically it. I don't go too much into them though, I basically move parts around and retexture them, so really it isn't much work. I'd say the hardest thing really is figuring out what to use to create a unit, or what parts could potentially come together to make a unit. Just fool around with it yourself, the more you do it the better your results become.

I got nearly everything ready to go for Portugal, any idea what I should use for the modern vehicles? Tank, Mechanized Infantry, Modern Armor etc.?

Found the tanks and everything, so I'll try to flavor Portugal tonight and put up a preview as well as post the ancient and industrial units.

Eh, there are a couple of issues with the ancient set, I'll make the appropriate posts (I might need your help, AGAIN, achilleszero) and retexture some of the shields next chance I get. The industrial units look good and I am going to post some units to the DB now. I'm posting Swedish Industrial units, Khmer Industrial units and of course the Portuguese units I made.

I will say this though, the ancient Portuguese units look even better in-game (even with their flaws) than they do in NifSkope, its going to be quite a bad-ass set!

No problem. If units are needed by LoR, that gives me double incentive to make them work properly.:D Whatever doesnt work on them, I'll fix.

They do look quite good. Very colorful and eye catching.

Nifskope doesnt do units justice sometimes. If nifskope had scene viewer's viewport, than nifskope would be perfect.

There are only two issues that should be easy for you to fix. The first one is the placement of the Axe on the Axeman, which I can't seem to get right. The second one is that the head on the swordsman appears somewhat invisible. Parts are visible and parts are not, its strange but I didn't take a screencap so I can't show you right now. Other than that they are fine, I just haven't skinned the shields yet so it shouldn't take long to finish.

I'll post them tomorrow, its getting pretty late now.

I've made diplotext for Ogedei Khan. (Remember, the one I gave you was originally for Tamerlane, then I gave it to Ogedei, before I decided it was better suited to Attila).

Forgot to mention there was a similar problem with spearman. Head displayed as invisible in sceneviewer when i could see it clearly in nifskope. Converted it to trishape and it showed up. Thats a new one on me, no idea why it would be like that and might not be the same problem as with your swordsman. We'll see after I get ahold of it.

Here is a screenshot of the units as well as the two units that are giving me trouble. I have also included the Horseman because I can't decide if it looks better with or without the shield, so I figured you can decide which looks best for the unit, I tried to make the shield look good, but I am not entirely happy with it, plus I think the location of it is kind of off. But other than those nitpicks I think they turned out pretty good.

Hmm... now that I see it, I think you should keep the Escudo as Portugal's default symbol. It looks like the German Maltese cross. Not enough to be confusing, but it looks like it.

Here ya go:

Fixed the swordsman's head. Fixed the floating axe (it was attatched to the Mace bone). Nothing really wrong with horseman, adjusted the shield a little but I dont know what its kf is so just guessing there. Fixed gloss on all 3 units and condensed and recompressed all the textures.

Yeah, it just seems a little small too. Perhaps if you made it larger it would be better but I have no problem using the Escudo.

@ AZ, thanks a lot, I'll take a look at them now. :goodjob:

I think the clothing would look really nice on a unit.

Perhaps later, but for now I'll stick with Chuggi's explorer. Its really good and basically looks like the one you are suggesting anyway.

I also came across this image, which I am going to use for Polynesia's Industrial-era...

I still have just a few more civs to go.
