I can't give any specific date, but they'll be added in version 6. I've been working on an update and am now busily adding civ-specific superheroes, and it's taking a bit longer than I thought.
One thing that I've been thinking about lately is the hero system.
This certainly isn't the only mod to have heroes, but the hero system I have seems relatively simple by comparison. Can anyone give me an honest critique? I'm always looking for improvement.
Oh, and I've updated the first post with a to-do list for future versions, to give you an idea of what I have planned.
If I may suggest, Journey to the East has several very good characters to use at leader heads and even more to use as unique units and legendary units.

my impression playing your mod was that the early heros are a breath to weak specially against citywalls. make hercules able to break down the walls of his enemys, nothing could stop him. apropos hercules, when do you finish the hercules.nif?
Well, I'm not trying to make all of the heroes in unstoppable juggernauts. I just want them to each have their strengths and weaknesses, saving the really powerful units for late in the game.
But if Heracles is a bit under-balanced then I'll see if I can tweak him a little bit.
Personally, I feel the whole hero system is a bit messy right now. Maybe that will be better when we get proper civpedia articles and such, making it easier to tell which units are special to which religion, civ, or ect [ take FF for example, perfectly easy to see in the civ who goes with what]. But the amount of stuff you can build right off the bat is just sorta overwhelming and all scattery right now. {IMHO}
For "hero system" do you mean just the Heroes, or the Legendary Units and Superheroes as well?
Because there is a difference between the three.
Then again, I guess that's where the confusion comes from, right? I'll be sure to update the strategy entries and include a new entry for the units in the concept section of the civlopedia.
Hmm, I have trouble telling these things apart so yeah, Hero system I guess refers to all the UU/World Unit/ect. I just think that once the civ pedia is complete itll make things alot clearer. Its kinda how I learned what to do with the heroes in FF/FFH.
{Although now that I think about it, It may be wise to restrict heroes to a certain group. Not making things into UU but more of saying civs with nothing to do with this hero even in passing shouldnt be able to build it. or something. There's just A lot of heroes. A lot.]
Oh, that's been included for a while. Xuanxang is one of the Great Prophets and Sun Wukong is a buildable hero.
And you may be right about some of the heroes being superfluous. I think Enkidu is a bit extraneous and Cu Chullain is underpowered, and Allan Quatermain may be unnecessary since most players won't need many recon units in the later ages.
Though I've always been fine with allowing non-culture specific heroes. In a normal game of Civ France can build the Great Wall and Japan can build the Eiffel Tower. So for this mod, I don't see why the Arabs can't build Don Quixote.
Oh no, please let Allan Quatermain in. But you could take the ancient temple excavation as special modcomp just for him and indi and Heinrich Schliemann.
I found the concept of this mod very intriguing and am giving my first try.
I'm playing a settler game (I like it easy...) and after few turns my capitol city was attacked by Hydra! ....wait, er... my warrior easily defeated him .
After another couple of turns he also defeated Big Bad Wolf.
Is this intended for Settler game or is an issue? This sounds way too unrealistic.
