I was watching American propaganda "independance day" i thought whouldn't it be cool to have your game being invaded by aliens? For example i play a game Non-modded then i load the mod with the game file then the alien invasion begins.

Ideas-
4 levels of difficulty 1 easy/4 hard if you choose 1 you get lvl 1 units and so on.
Mix next war.
Units
Mother ship 1/2/3/4
Carrier( carries fighter (alein version)) 1/2/3/4
Alien spy 2/3/4
Command ship 1/2/3/4
Missle /2/3/4
strike squadron 1/2/3/4
bomber sqadron 1/2/3/4
Alein infantry 1/2/3/4
Heat ray 3/4
Sea base 2/3/4

Now my idea is to give it the barbs but i whould prefer to give them to another set of barb type people(aliens).

Dream game-
If you could play as the aliens.
Have a option in which you can decide a year in which the invasion starts and the difficulty.
Scenarios.

I'm planning to do it but i can only XML so i might/will need help the first thing im going to do is add the units.

Ideas welcome
 
I like the idea. Sort of a War of the Worlds situation.

Good grief.... you really have been indoctrinated by those Brits, haven't you? It's a movie set around July 4. What should it be called--Anzac Day? :lol:

Anyways, what I would is set the aliens as a separate civ, but put that civ at war with everybody. You could also do this by making them a "minor civ," I believe.

By the way im English by birth

but can minor civs have UUs?
 
the only difference between minor and "major" civs is who can play them... it is changed by the tag <bHumanplayable> (i think) in civilizationinfos.XML

lol nice example of Nationalism. I guess the British have never made a movie in which they save the world? Or are you above such propaganda?

Anyways if the're going to heavily scripted for the spawning and what not then you might want to leave them as barbarian but only have them start spawning after the normal barbarians are dead or extinct or what ever.
 
I had a design written for a mod like this a while back. It featured 3 alien races. One was an aggresive military race as you are describing, one was an elightened technological race, and the third as was a weird unfathomable race.

The game played much as a typical Civ4 BtS game with the aliens making appearances via events through the early part of the game. The technological aliens may appear and gift a technology or offer a quest. The Weird aliens may come down and build some obscure monument or probe or mutate some of your units, or the warlike race may destroy a whole section of land and leave fallout.

Events could entail finding the wreckage of a alien spacecraft, witnessing a battle between 2 of the alien factions, or deciphering the meaning on some alien artifact.

Later in the game the aliens could get a larger presence, allying themselves with a civ that has gone through the required steps to initiate real communication with them or (in the case of the aggresive faction) launching an attack on the entire world.

Each game would randomly select which alien factions were available for that game, with the possibility that no aliens would appear all the way up to all aliens being in the game.

Alas I never got around to actually creating the mod, but I think it could be a fun idea and a freely offer it to anyone who would like to use any or all of the ideas.
 
This whole alien invasion idea sound great. But the aliens shouldn't standard be at war with everyone, so they can, for example bribe Sumeria to declare war on France, so both civs weaken each other a lot, and <I>then</I> attack. Like that, the aliens will need much less troops.
 
I am currently planning an alien invasion mod. It's called Meteor Storm and basically, three allied alien armies invaded Earth in 2020 and the game starts a year later in 2021. The aliens, underestimating human resistance, are now waiting for reinforcements from their heavily fortified bases while the humans build up their forces. There's six human factions and four alien factions. I posted some details on CivUnited (have a look :) ) and I've been waiting for an opportune time to officially announce it here. Right now though it's still in its early planning stage.

civunited doesn't seem to have that much traffic. You might get more feedback if you had the thread here on cfc rather than civunited. It does sound like an interesting idea, which would be challenging to balance.

Well, thing is I wanted to get the word out but I don't felt ready to announce it/make a thread here at CFC yet (I haven't even finalised all the factions yet, let alone start on any actual modding).
 
I'd better appreciate a scenario like/inspired by the alien invasion one in Civilization II Fantastic Worlds.

I was actually going to try and incorporate something like the War of the Worlds in this one mod I'm doing. I just don't have a tripod unit to work with yet.
 
I like the idea, maybe the alien units should be much stronger to force human civ's to work together.
 
Hey, is this thread still active or dead o.o I just signed up to get info on this mod if it was in the making!, Since i have no skills to mod myself :( Stupid Year 11 12 exams..grr -.-
 
You posted almost exactly one year after the last post, so yeah, it's dead. Idon't think anyone is working on it either. (Welcome to the forums, btw)
