Would be interested to know, Panda Power, why you are bored and frustrated with Civ 5?
It's the AI or rather the AU because it is just so ridiculously unintelligent! I know in time it will get better and I do really look forward to going back to it one day in the future, but as it is now it's just like playing the same game every time.
The AI has one mission and that's to get the highest score by spamming cities and taking over (puppeting) other civ cities and city states. It is totally clueless about the other victory conditions and seems to go totally unpunished economy wise and happiness wise whichever difficulty level you play.
One minute they're happy with you because you've generously given them some gold during hard times or released a kidnapped-by-barbarians unit back to them and then in the next turn they'll plop a city right beside your empire, miles from theirs, and then go to war with you for encroaching on "their" territory!
War, like diplomacy, is then a joke because it consists of the AI attacking you with one unit at a time, which of course you can just destroy easily while leveling up your weaker units one by one until it gets to the point where you can just steamroll each and every AI civ every game.
It's not challenging and it's not much fun!
That said, there is potential and I'm sure once the SDK is released then our amazing team of talented modders will be able to do wonders with it, but right now I'm just not feeling the appeal to fire up another game.
