[BTS Total Mod] Thomas' War

Tsentom, I have a good Cardinal Richelieu LH in the works you could use for France. Check out my leaderhead gallery on page 4, see my sig. I also made a pretty sweet Pharaoh too if you want to use it.
 
I'm still working to aid this problem, looking at the code and how it relates to Vista, and getting help from people more familiar with these types of problems than I.
 
Excellent! When you do, inevtiably, fix the issue, could you relate to us exactly what was causing the problem? I'm really quite curious...
 
I just installed Thomas' War mod, I was getting the GFC error and deleted the necessary files, now the game loads but I have no interface. I have the BUG & BAT installed as well. If anyone has a fix for this I'd appreciate it, looks like a great mod. Also, I'm cpu illiterate, so I may need it broken down into baby steps :). Thanks for any help.

did you install in the my games MODS folder or the firaxis/sid miere civilization iv/beyond the sword/mods folder
 
My Games, BTS, MODS.

Try moving it to firaxis/sid miere civilization iv/beyond the sword/mods folder and see if it solves the problem.

If not you need to enable python exceptions:

You need to open the _Civ4Config File (found in Beyond the Sword/Assets). Search for the line:

; Set to 1 for no python exception popups
HidePythonExceptions = 1

And make it equal to 0.

Then load up the mod and start a game. An error should come up, post that error here so I can help you more.
 
Moved the MOD to Fraxis, BTS, MODS, changed the code, and got this:

BUG and BAT are competing with Thomas' War and causing the problems.

Most of BUG is included in Thomas' War anyway and Thomas' War includes it's own sets of unit and city graphics (often times using the ones in BAT as a base but heavily modified). If you take those out of custom assets it should load normally.

You can turn python exceptions off if you want. They don't affect the game, they just tell you if some of the python isn't working correctly. It's usually better to keep them off if you aren't correcting things as random python pop ups can be annoying.
 
How goes the crash fixing?

I'm going to rewrite a whole section of code which will be easy but time-consuming. Unfortunately, a bunch of real life work fell in my lap recently so I won't be able to get to it till this weekend at earliest.
 
I had a random event occur, a road was washed out on a grassland tile with a horse pasture on it. I paid to have road repaired. After the event the tile changed, it was showing being covered with water, a very cool effect. When I mouse over the tile it now shows as 'Flooding/Grassland.' The flooding seems to erase the tile's food production, it only provides hammers and gold now, no bread. This too I think is cool, realistic to what flooding does. The effect never seems go way though, and I can't seem to fix the flooding. Is there a way to remove the flooding, perhaps with a tech I don't have yet?

Second, I received the Quest of Temple Prostitution, where I was asked to build 7 brothels to gain Aphrodite's blessings. I built 7 brothels, but the quest did not triggers as being completed.

I am really enjoying this mod. Thanks a lot for making it.

The effect does go away, and usually in a reasonable time, however being based on a certain random factor sometimes it does take way too long to go away. The length of these is something I keep my eye on and will probably be toned down a bit next time I patch. (Coincidently, by the end of the tech tree you do gain the ability to remove all of them almost instantly with your workers).

Blah! That temple prostitution quest has been giving me trouble since I added it. I thought I had fixed it with the last patch but guess not. I'll need to go through the code and check.

For everyone else I'm still rewriting the code to see if I can tone down the MAFS, just have been really busy with real life work. I'm hoping to have something for people to test sometime this week.
 
Started downloading the latest version, but can't help wondering if it would be easier to link directly to a DL site instead of via 2 in-between screens?:confused:

EDIT: OK, I tried unzipping twice, but the mod doesn't show up in the Mods listed and when I try the Mod Chooser I get the message that the mod path is "invalid, ignoring"...
