[BTS Total Mod] Thomas' War

I load the animated heads in but all it shows is a pink square.

You must have not installed the animated leader pack correctly.

Extracting the zip into the Thomas' War mod directly does all the steps.

Alternatively replace the files directly. The animated zip contains two files. A leaderhead art defines XML file which goes into thomas' war/assets/xml/art AND the leaderhead art Pak which goes into the assets folder. Both should replace the self-named file in the default download.

hi,

if i remember correctly there was "Range" for unit such as cannon, artillery, how come the latest mod can not find it? i love this ability.

Thanks for your great work. I have two questions-
1) I want to merge this with Great People graphic mod, so a picture will show up for each of your new type GPs. Which files I need to modify?
2) Is there any chance of you making Juche Monument wonder? :) I'm dreaming about it for a long time but dont have skills to do it. Its effects should enhance Police state civic adding hammers to it just like to State Property.

I've never included Dale's Ranged Bombardment (I believe that's the modcomp you are referring to) in Thomas' War as that requires SDK modifications and I've opted against editing the DLL for compatibility and multiplayer issues.

-You would have to merge the same files you would as if merging that modcomp with standard BTS. Your best bet would be to ask that modcomp's author directly which files he/she has edited as I've never downloaded it myself. However, I'm assuming you would have to create new text and pictures for the new great people types yourself, as since they are unique to Thomas' War, the original modcomp would not had reason to include them.

-I probably won't be adding anymore wonders to Thomas' War itself in the future, although I may release that wonder separately as a modcomp similar to my other python wonders.

Is there any way a relative novice could add ranged bombardment to your Mod?

It wouldn't be too difficult. Since Thomas' War doesn't use a custom DLL you won't have to merge any SDK (which would normally be the hard part). You can just move the DLL into the Assets folder.

Besides that it's merging the Python and XML, so it all depends on how comfortable you are merging Python and XML. I'm not really sure what files Dale's Ranged Bombardment uses, so you'd have to check the modcomp itself. Downloading and using Winmerge makes merging Python and XML a whole lot easier as you can just compare the modcomps files with the default ones in BTS and see where and what all the changes are.

I would ask in the Ranged Bombardment modcomp's thread for more specific advise in merging it, though.

Today i finaly find out some time to play ypur mod, and i reach 1940 and get msg memory alocation data, and it exited, just to say excelent mod, i em waiting to download the animation files for wonders and leadre

Thanks for adding the new Earth maps (especially the Standard Earth map) in the 3.5a download however I can't get any of them to work. For some reason they start loading, but before they ever finish loading the game exits to Windows saying a problem has occurred.

All the old maps for Thomas' War still work perfectly as well as random maps, its just the new ones. Any idea what can I do?

Please help, I'm desperate for an Earth map my computer can handle with Thomas' War in the late stages.

That's odd, they load fine on my computer (which doesn't say much cause often modcomps can work fine on the owner's computer). Does it give a specific error message?

If not, I didn't make the maps persay. All of them can be found in the Earth Maps section of civfanatics...

http://forums.civfanatics.com/downloads.php?do=cat&id=62

All I did to them was go through them and add wetlands/marsh to some tiles along with a few of the other terrain features, as well as enabling Commerce and Religious victories. So you could download them from there and play them as the only difference being that those features wouldn't be active (which isn't that much).

The only thing I can think of is if you're trying to load the maps when not in Thomas' War (or you have Thomas' War in the My Games/MODS directory instead of the one in Program Files). Since I did add those features, a standard BTS game would crash trying to the map as it doesn't have the marsh terrain, etc.

I'll see what I can find out about the problem though and get back to you. In the meantime, if anyone else is experiencing a similar problem, please post.

Okay, so Filefront has announced that the site is closing down on March 30th. All my files have been moved / are currently hosted at AtomicGamer. However, this means the mirrors I had posted with links to Filefront will be going down. Just a heads up.

In reference to post #913:

I am mistaken, none of the maps/scenarios work after installing/updating to version 3.5 and then patching to 3.5a (I think those are the numbers). All the old maps/scenarios did work until doing so. The error message is something like this (I don't have windows in English so this is a rough translation, but it is the generic error message you get with most program errors) "Sid Meier's Civilization 4 : Beyond The Sword has detected a problem and must close". However all random maps work fine (I'm playing one now)

Also, I do have Thomas' War installed in "C:\Program Files\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4\Beyond the Sword\Mods and I am loading the MOD before attempting to open any of the maps/scenarios.

Do you think deleting the entire Thomas' War folder and doing a fresh copy would help? Or maybe a new BTS install might help?

Any help will be great, thanks.

There's a possibility that deleting Thomas' War and re-downloading 3.5a (the main download includes the patch now so no need to also download the patch) might help. This would imply that I messed up a file or two with the patch (which is odd because all the XML and Python should be identical between the two).

Uhmm, can you test if any of the custom BTS scenarios found on the forums work? (Anyone made for standard BTS should have no problems loading with Thomas' War).

Besides that, I need to look into this matter more and hopefully can get to the bottom of it.

Good thing that I moved to rapidshare.;) (Did they give a reason for closing down?)

They said economic reasons

Also, JEELEN, have you had any problems loading up your scenarios since the new version (3.5a)? Waitfornever is having problems loading any scenario. He's the only one who's reported this problem so I'm trying to see if it's a widespread issue or perhaps a configuration on his system.

That sounds pretty obvious... I'll have to get back to you, as I currently don't seem to have a working version and the DL says it'll take another 40 mins. (Oh wait, now it's 30...);)

tsentom1:

I got everything working on another 2 machines (which I know doesn't mean anything 100%) so I'm imagining its my computer. I'm just going to delete everything and re-install, whatever was going wrong should be fixed like that.

Thanks for the help and sorry to have bothered you.

Keep up the good work, this is truly a great mod.
