[BTS Total Mod] Thomas' War

Started downloading the latest version, but can't help wondering if it would be easier to link directly to a DL site instead of via 2 in-between screens?

EDIT: OK, I tried unzipping twice, but the mod doesn't show up in the Mods listed and when I try the Mod Chooser I get the message that the mod path is "invalid, ignoring"...

Well I used to have it just on filefront and then people complained they couldn't download, then I had it just on ModDB then other people complained they couldn't download. So finally I just made an in-between (it should only be one screen but blah filefront and their advertising) and no one complained they couldn't download. It does have the advantage that it never goes down, at least. One or the other has but never at the same time and I usually catch it and can reupload on the one site.

Regardless, I'm probably only going to host it at only ModDB soon. Just for convenience sake.

Hmm, as for your problem, are you creating an extra folder when you unzip? (The unzipped folder should go Thomas' War/Assets/ blah blah. People have been having trouble with the My Games/MODS directory so if you're using that try the Firaxis Games/Sid Meier's Civilzation 4/Beyond the Sword/mods one.

I know poor advice you probably already know :(
But its the best I can do till I get back home this afternoon and can download myself to see if there are any problems with the uploaded file.

Appreciately your reply...blah (). I put the zipfile in the BtS/Mods dir, it unzips there and then... nothing. Have no idea what the problem is...:(

Hi tsentom1, or I guess you're Thomas, downloaded and am in the Industrial age of my first game, and I love it! Very well done! :)

Hmm, weird I downloaded it (from filefront) and it loaded up fine. Opening up the extracted folder does it look like it has all the files (or rather just a bunch of files). I'm going to try the MODdb download and see if that fares any different.

This is surely a great Mod, i enjoyed playing Vers. 3.1a, now i deleted it and i downloaded Vers. 3.1b (i couldn't install the Patch, i'm not so good in these things). It works perfectly, but there are no more scenarios that were in 3.1a... i mean all the extra scenarios, aren't anymore in. I downloaded it twice, first with FireFox, and then with IE, and still there aren't the Scenarios. So i don't think they've been eliminated, or yes? I guess there's something i miss in all the problem :D
Could someone help? Thanks :)

I think Thomas is trying to lower the file size and is removing optional components from the main download to release as separate downloads. I wouldn't be surprised if next version had static leader heads by default and the animated ones to download. Either that or the huge scenarios or the most likely to MAF at the moment and he removed them till he fixed the problem.

He said he had a new bug patch coming sometime this week, though he's also posted that he's been really busy recently so I'm not sure.

Anyway, all the scenarios were taken from civfanatics:

1066 AD for Thomas' War
by JEELEN

Thomas' War Huge Earth 18 Civs
by JEELEN

500 AD for Thomas' War by c0d5579

I think the rest were just generic scenarios taken from

15 Scenarios! by Pacifist46

Thanks, i thins is right....
yes those three and the other 15 are the ones "missing"...
Then i'll download some form here :)
I'm disappointed that the game is crashing for a memory problem... my driver video has only 284 Mb allocated... uff i'm gonna change it for Xmas... in the meantime i've to play with low graphics settings :(
However, thanns again :D

Thomas says hes working to help reduce those crashes. He's improved the performance before so I'm sure he'll be able to make them better. Just have to be patient I guess....:( Which is a shame cause it's such a great mod

It's strange: the "match" is only 450 MBs heavy and i've played without problems "matches" with more than 1.200 MBs, i don't undertand why it makes troubles, i don't think is a Hardware problem, it's more like a Bug. Anyway also reducing all graphics things it crashes, now i can't neither load it... i think then is a "MAF", right?
I'm not so practice of those tecnhcal issues
Anyway it's not a pity, it wasn't a great match... i'm making better right now in 1066 AD Scenario :D
Anyway i confirm it's a great job, nice :goodjob:

I'm sorry, I know I'm delayed getting the next bug fix out, just been very busy recently. Even the wonders I released I had done basically beforehand and did very little work to get them released. I have to mail things out by Monday so I will have free time after that to fix things. Once again, sorry.

Eh, I don't think anyone here's really bothered by the wait, so you don't need to apologize. We know you're doing your best...you've proven it multiple times before.

I know, but I hate saying I'll have something out by one date and then not being able to deliver.

Why is Thomas always at war? Every time I look in my new threads, he's at war again. He's a violent fellow. Just wanted to say great mod.

Haha, because originally a friend of mine just asked me to make small modifications to 'Next War' to play. Once I finished he started to call it 'Thomas' War' to distinguish it and then the name kinda just stuck.

Since I kept on building from that original mod it's stayed that way. If I hadn't I'm sure I would have given it a more epic sounding name like Rise of Mankind or History in the Making. Now Thomas will never be at peace!

I've always thought Thomas' War as a somewhat epic name...it makes you wonder who the man is, and the scope of his war - it's fought from the beginning to the end of human history, after all.

Ultimately, the name is a concept, unraveling possibilities the more you think about it.

Don't worry, you've made a great work, :goodjob:, i'd say huge work, and some problems are just obviosly to appear... anyway, with that Mod i'm not bored anytime of re-start :D if it happens...
So don't apologize... it looks strange... we shall thanks you, not you apologize us! :) Mind your busyness wich are of course more important and then take care of the Mod ;)
Ah yes, Thanks

How's progress? Or, should I say, life? ^_^

I should have a bug patch by this weekend. It won't add any new content but will fix some balancing issues. It's also has parts of the code rewritten. The code is functionally the same but forum members with more knowledge of how civ iv works have pointed out a few things, so the code should help people suffering with MAFs. Granted, I doubt it will fix them but should help improve the performance over all - even for people not experiencing this problem. Right now I'm still doing some edits to help with the code in terms of Vista, but this seems the more difficult part. I really hate Vista...

I should also this weekend have another wonder or two posted as well as a new python trait or two. I wrote some rudimentary code just brainstorming for future versions of Thomas' War a while ago, so it'd just be refining it and putting it in a mod form for the forums. In the far off future, after the holidays I'll probably put together a Civ / Leader Pack for Thomas' War to be posted by say mid to end January. I'd like to include Elam, Scotland, Scythia, Argentina, Australia, the Philippines, and Dacia, but I haven't started this yet so it's all just speculative at the moment.
