Buce01: The Slavemaster

Slowly, I'm afraid.

My daughter has been a bit under the weather, so I've not had any Civ time for a couple of days. I should have it done tomorrow, though.
 
Buce is having some serious RL issues and won't be back for a while. I think someone should play his turns and he'll need to be skipped from here on in.
 
After a cursory look I find this game rather demotivating. The game is won and it's just a matter of completing our goal as quickly as possible. As Tusker has shown, we can deal with any threat easily and quickly.

Our goal is to do the same-turn space shot and completion of the ship. With researching new techs at 4ish turns per, We can research everything before we do that so I figure that for maximum style points, we should start the process the same turn we research the last tech.

This is very similar Abra game where we did the MM experiment. Production is less important than research. We have all the cash we need and we can always get what we need if we run low by a turn of 0% research.

So in that line of thought, I started playing around with CAII. We can increase our research by 218bpt if we build courts in all cities but Athens, Thermo, Corinth, Delphi, Apollo 2, and cities with 90% corruption and a pop lower than 5. This would cost us an extra 126gpt. Funny how that works out eh? It works out to reducing our research time by about 1/3 (not including the beakerhead bonus that isn't calculated by CAII). So in this situation where we have a bunch of cash, we ought to be able to research our research by a turn per tech if we build Courts in corrupt cities. We ought to make the same cash on the completion turn as the gain from reduced corruption will pay for the maintenance.

I know that there are issues with CAII, but from my experience, this shouldn't be affected.

I'll get on the actual paying playing on Thursday and should be able to finish it by Friday. I assume that no one has a problem with trading away a tech or two (we are 3 tiers up) to break the competition.
 
Actually, in light of morning I think I was wrong about the value of courts in corrupt cities but the exercise was worth it to get back into the swing of the game without making silly mistakes like I did in Kahn. I'll be done by the weekend:)
 
I'm still on it. I just finished a huge MMing exercise that got us down to 10% on the turn before Lasers (from 40% before the exercise). I should have a save posted tomorrow.
 
I did the MM challenge at turn 5. After playing turn 6 today I had a bit of an epiphany. I'm quite confident that I should be able to get our research down to 2-turn techs by the end of my set.

However, as I was considering our goal to complete the ship the same turn as Apollo, I think we may have screwed ourselves. We need 10 pre-builds to get the components the same turn as Apollo. We have Strat Missles, Longevity, Cancer, Internet, an army and Manhattan if we can't use ICBMs. I count 6 and we're 4 short. Can we use ICBMs as a pre-build? I sort of need to know now.

My strategy won't change much if we can or can't but I do need to know the goal. My plan is to irrigate all but 14 cities, rush hospitals and put all the extra pop into specialists. I'm sure we can get down to 3-turn research on my set and probably 2-turn research on the next turn. That would give us the win well within two sets. If we can't use ICBMs, we can have Apollo in 6 turns (possibly less with some MMing), and the Engine and Exterior completed in the same time. We could have the other 300+ components in 4 turns and win next set.
 
Unfortunately research is capped at 4 turns, so you won't get it below that however many beakers you can generate.

I have no problem with using ICBM's as a prebuild.

Sou ka... so much for my last hour or so of MMing...

So we can use ICBMs for pre-builds for small wonders? If so, I'll get on Manhattan ASAP. We should have been on it ages ago.
