Bug reports and technical issues

the option to enslave population in sub-sahara-cities has been disabled/removed. This is true for civs like Congo/Ethiopia as well as others like England, independent of civics, age or anything similar. so the only source of slaves are the independant units which sometimes can be enslaved
this basically removed the slave trade from the game and makes some UHVs virtually impossible.

It has been brought up here twice before but so far I haven't seen an info whether that is intentional (see changes with the mercenaries) or not.

It's not intentional.

Leoreth, I don't know whether you got a chance to look at it yet, but I'm still having some BUG problems. Autolog, and Reminders all give me messages at the start of the game that they can't be parsed in the xml file, while changing advisor bug settings in game tells me that the file can't be modified. Any ideas on what might be causing this?

Haven't looked at it yet. The promised bugfix time went into trying some of the promised AP stuff which took longer than expected because that is coded in a very confusing way. Maybe over the weekend.

The porcelain tower doesnt work as advertised. The trade routes still are domestic and Not foreign ;(
Oh, really? I'm pretty sure it worked at one point. Maybe I screwed something up.

you get the 2 free merchants but the trade routes are not influenced:

which is bad since I want to use mercantilism + the tower :D

edit:

edit: found another one

there seems to be something wrong with culture upon city conquest (by the player).
I first noticed it with Byzantium:
the player sometimes seems to get too much culture from foreign cities.
with Byzantium I had 3.8k culture in Byzantium vs 3.5k in the best "competitor" (India) and then I conquered the initial Egyptian city from the Arabs....and it had >11k culture (for them it had a lot less, I don't have a save right now but it probably was something around 600-900). So I had to reload and raze it (together with 4 great wonders :( )
now with Japan I took a city in China and it immediately had 1.1k culture.

I'd love to get some culture upon conquest but I think it should be something along the line of 20-50 * age

Do you still have a save from that situation? You're supposed to get a percentage of the culture already there.

Okay, I just played for the SVN for the first time since the stability and BUG updates, and I noticed that many of the vanilla buttons are considerably lower definition- enough to bother me. This problem doesn't exist in SoI, RFCE, etc., so it's probably BUG. Has anyone else noticed this?

Which buttons exactly?

I updated the SVN version (598->599) and now the old saves don't work anymore.

this should be the save of my city conquest with byzantium (just before conquering it)

edit:
I don't know whether this actually does anything, but I just wanted to inform you about it:

(SVN 599, after starting a revolution this appears every turn - or it was due to the time, turn 65 @ epic)

Which buttons exactly?

A lot-all unit action buttons except for kill, wake, and explore; all units, buildings, and wonders in the city screen(but not gold/research/culture/etc.); and warrior code and militia in civics (though that's probably because they're unit buttons).

I don't have a very sharp eye for this but these look fine to me, see attachment.

Also, I can confirm that cities gained through trading company conquerors aren't getting any of the original city's culture.

Seems to a problem exclusive to my computer, then. This is what I have:

What exactly do you see that is wrong with these, out of curiosity?

No, I'm seeing it too. Are you playing with an unusual resolution?

I can also tell you that related (sort of, probably) is that cities which are conquered non-trading company are getting the culture.

Kind of angered me when I was dominating France's culture in Marseille with Genova as Italy, then Portugal conquered it and was quite suddenly dominating my culture. The wine tile between the two cities from about 70% Italian, 25% French, and 5% Holy Roman to about 60% Portuguese, 30% Italian, 10% French after being conquered. If I recall correctly, this is about the same as Trading Company cities used to be.

Also on the subject of Trading Companies but not really belonging in this thread, armies gotten when a failed buying of a city occurs should include a missionary.

I checked and BUG doesn't come with new button graphics, so that can't be the reason :dunno:
