Bug Reports and Technical Issues

Well what comes before Civilization 4\Beyond the Sword\Mods in that box you spoke of? Program Files\? Games\?

Let's take a step back, this is confusing.
When I clicked on the download, this came up: http://prntscr.com/b9ktxw
I then clicked on, "extract." Doing so causes this to pop up: http://prntscr.com/b9kug5
I'm a skrub and I simply typed in "Beyond the Sword/Mods/" in the box, it didn't work.
So will Program Files/Civilization 4/Beyond the Sword/Mods/ work?
By the way, thanks for bearing with me on this XD

To the right of that box where I assume you entered your text is a button with three dots. Click on it, and it should allow you to browse your file structure and select the folder where you want to unpack the downloaded file. The one thing I can't help you with is finding where Civilization 4 itself is installed (probably somewhere in Program Files or Games), but after you found that open the Beyond the Sword folder in it, and then select the Mod folder in that as the target.

And it's really no problem, I bother Leoreth every other day with stupid modding related questions and general whining.

Okay, so I managed to extract it into the right folder, but when I loaded up my game to go play it, Dawn of Civilization was nowhere to be found. XP

Go into the Windows Explorer and navigate to the BTS mod folder there. Can you see the mod there?

Hm, strange, Beyond the Sword comes shipped with lots of free mods. Could you perhaps make a screenshot? And also open the Dawn of Civilization folder and make a screenshot of that?

As far as I can see the path looks fine, but I'd like to see a screenshot of the Games folder to see where that is installed.

Okay, where is mannin family? In HP (C:)?

Anyway this is very strange.

To summarize: You have several mods for Civ4BTS installed, and yet when you check the Mods folder of BTS you can only see RFCDoC, which doesn't show up ingame? I almost believe that you might have Civ4 installed twice and put DoC into the one you don't have a desktop shortcut leading to.

Okay how about this: How do you usually start Civ4? I assume with a shortcut on the desktop? If so, right click on that shortcut and select properties. This should open a window with, well, properties about this shortcut. There should be a textfield that shows the path this shortcut leads to, probably ending with Civilization 4\Beyond the Sword\BeyondtheSword.exe. Copy the full path (if my Civ4 installed twice hypothesis is wrong it should be Mannin Family\Games\ followed by the Civ4 stuff) and paste it in a post.

The properties screen had a button called "open file location" which took me here: http://prntscr.com/b9nrrw
So basically a dead end.
I tried extracting the file into Mannin Family\Games\Civilization 4\Beyond the Sword\Beyond the Sword.exe\Mods\ but that just created a new folder with just as many mods in it as the other one.

I think maybe I extracted the mod onto the Steam version of BTS (I have both the steam and desktop versions of the game), but I don't know the password to my brother's account. D:

NOPE NOPE NOPE NOPE How would the computer even allow you to do that? Like, it can't just create a folder in an .exe file, except apparently you just did that? :crazyeye:

Oy vey. Would you be alright with me checking the situation myself with Teamviewer tomorrow (in 18 hours or so)? This only gets more perplexing with each new post.

WAIT!

I found it, I took a closer look at properties, and the shortcut is in C:\Mannin Family\Desktop\Sid Meier's Civilization IV: Beyond the Sword\

Either that or it's another dead end, but hopefully not.

EDIT: lolnope nevermind. Doesn't work.

As to the teamviewer thing, what's that?

I don't know if this is a bug or a feature. Is it possible to found Orthodoxy in any way other than by researching Theology?

Because I was test-playing Harappa again, and on Turn 146, while in the middle of researching Currency, Orthodoxy founds in my capital city. I did not research Theology, I checked and Theology is still among my undiscovered, needs-to-be-researched techs. I did not pop any goodie huts. In fact I only moved an archer from one city to another. One of my cities built walls. The Maya spawned at the start of the turn. And that's all that happened in the world.

Did I accidentally do something to found that religion? This has never happened in any of my other test games of Harappa, even the ones that went until AD 1200.

Orthodoxy does eventually autofound, but it should end up in an independent city. Do you have a save from before the religion is founded?
Polish epic game, latest revision, crashed at end of 1390 - 1395.
Same here, do you have the 1390 save?
