Bug Reports and Technical Issues

I do not have a save on hand, but I have seen the USA and Prussia receiving New Orleans or Danzig via congress vote 5-10 turns before they actually spawn. (Danzig only if Poland already collapsed and occupied by someone else)

I suspect this is due to the new mechanics where civs occupy slots before their formal spawns.

v1.16.7 from installer
AttributeError: 'Birth' object has no attribute "declareWarOnFlip" as Egypt when Alexandria wants to flip to the Arabs. Don't get the message offering to go to war to take it back
Happens on next turn in save

Adding back in this function seems to fix

After trying to use the shortcut that the installer creates, I always receive the attached error. Does anyone know what this could be due to and how I could fix it? Currently when I just start the and try to load the mod that way, it will work, but it will take like 15-20 minutes for civ to load with the mod, so I'd like to know if there's any way to make that faster.

Sorry, the shortcut from the installer has been a crapshoot ever since Windows 11 became widespread. I haven't had the time to look into why this happens.

Been very excited to re-download this mod as have played quite a lot in the past, and managed to load the mod up alright, but can't actually load the map scenarios - looking at privatemaps they seem to be saved as .txt in the file I have. I did try resaving as .CivBeyondSwordWBSave, but got the below error. Unsure of what's gone on here and whether its my end? I instaled through the installer if that affects anything

Have you tried opening the properties on the shortcut and changing the Target?
I had to change the default, it should be something like "C:\path\to\Civ4BeyondSword.exe" mod=\RFC Dawn of Civilization
path\to being the location of Civ4 Beyond the Sword of course

Unsure what might be causing this. Something like findInfoTypeNum is a fundamental game function that should work, but I also cannot see how a corrupt install would be able to cause this error.

The event of baby boom after a war works even when the player doesn't have any city (which you receive the food bonus but there is no city to receive it). Save attached. Also, shouldn't be best change this event to have more chances to be triggered only after an war and giving real population instead of food?

When I failed the first goal of the second UHV of the ethiopians, the game doesn't show up a message of goal failed.

After opening the World Builder I accidentally clicked with the right buttom of the mouse and a python exception show up.

A couple of bugs with spawning new civilizations.

When the Moors flip my cities, I get some Python exceptions, and am unable to declare war in response to the flip.
Spoiler Python Exception :

When the Spanish spawn the following turn, they don't have any technologies. They also don't receive any settlers, and only two crossbowmen.
Spoiler Asking for Pottery :

And when the French spawn, I notice that they flipped all of my units that were stationed in Paris, but the rest of my units in the rest of France were properly expelled with the city flip the following turn.

Game version 1.16.7 still got a bug with the World Congress.
If its triggers and you load a savegame one turn before, it will trigger 1 turn earlier then before (directly upon loading this savegame) .

it's true, usually this happens to me too, there was a play in which it anticipated a congress in 3 turns. It was supposed to happen on turn 89, but as I went out and loaded it, it happened instantly on turn 86. As I continued gameplay I have no save.

Okay so I finally got some time to try this, I have written in the Target "C:\Program Files (x86)\2K Games\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4 Complete\Beyond the Sword\Civ4BeyondSword.exe mod=\RFC Dawn of Civilization", but the shortcut is still not working. Does anything look wrong with that? I admittedly am no computer expert so I don't know if I am just making some minor mistake or something.

@Leoreth I do know, when I used to play way back in the day, I could just open the RFC_3000BC file in the PrivateMaps folder and it would bring me right to the choosing leader screen, so that is what I used to link as a shortcut. As Bryce3 said, it is for me also now just a text document. I don't know if that is related to the shortcut problems or not. I am assuming that due to the new process of going through Play Now to start the game, this would no longer be an option anyways. Anyways not a huge problem, can still play the mod, just takes a little longer to load it up :P

Yeah I know. If you fix the link in the shortcut it should work though. Alternatively, what worked for me was once the mod was running, pinning it to the taskbar and use that as the way to launch the game (with the mod already loaded).

"C:\Program Files (x86)\2K Games\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4 Complete\Beyond the Sword\Civ4BeyondSword.exe mod=\RFC Dawn of Civilization",
Try surrounding the filepath in quotes but not the mod=\RFC part, so like this:
Code:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\2K Games\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4 Complete\Beyond the Sword\Civ4BeyondSword.exe" mod=\RFC Dawn of Civilization

I downloaded the ZIP of the new version (1.17) of the game today on 10/27/2022, on Github, in the develop branch. When I started the game in the 3000BC scenario with Babylon, there were some python errors, and then the game started wrong with several tiles in grassland. (follow the print and save)

In 1700AC scenario, when I try to launch the game it starts loading, but when the loading bar goes past the "initialization" step, the program closes automatically

EDIT : After deleting the old folder with the MOD downloaded via ZIP and using the installer, the game started working properly again. So here's the tip folks, if an error is occurring, try preferably to use the installer.
If you download the zip from the latest develop state, it should work now.

I don't really understand why the code in question behaved differently if installed via zip file instead of git or the installer, but I changed the implementation so that it works in every situation.

Is this bug reflected in one of your saves?

Can you tell me which tile you clicked on and which mode you were in when you did?

Tried to retire after failing to build the Pyramids in time with Egypt, but the game just crashed instead.

After historical victory with Egypt, it said it could not find the victory sound file. Idk if that's a problem on my end or not, but I did redownload the mod from scratch earlier today.
Both seem to be the same problem. It works for me (victory music plays in both situations). Can you tell me how you installed the mod so I can try to reproduce the problem?

Version: GIT v1.16.7-3

This is a pretty minor issue, a typo really: UHV 1 for the Inca reads "Control five Tambos and build a Road along the Andean Coast by 1550." (Emphasis mine). However, I achieved this goal many years before the deadline, and did not receive credit until 1550. This leads me to believe that UHV 1 should read: "Control five Tambos and a Road along the Andean Coast in 1550.

Do you recall, by any chance, whether you fulfilled the building or the road component of the goal last?

Tried this, just ended up pinning normal Beyond the Sword instead of the mod :/

I installed it from the installer, w/ all of the additional suggested packs. I believe I deleted the previous version of DoC that I used to have beforehand, but I am not totally sure.
