Bug Reports and Technical Issues

Probably not, but the latest state works for me so it is not an issue with the mod either. Does this modmod run independently of DoC or does it overwrite it?
It is independent, and I also got the modmod using git pull. Have you seen this kind of error in my screenshot before?

Yes, it is a typical error when an XML file is not in the expected format. There is something wrong with your local file.

New update:

When trying to start game as Iran in 600AD scenario, autoplay ends early and I get You have been defeated message.

If you have not started another game since then, there should be a file ending in "Initial" in your autosaves folder. Can you upload it?

Unfortunately it seems my game did not make initial autosaves when I attempted to start Iran game. Initial autosave in autosaves folder was from my previous Mayan game. It seems intial autosave happens on spawn turn and i got defeat message before that. I think that Aqua Appia becoming obsolete triggers error and for some reason that ends autoplay before i have any units.

That's also useful information, thanks!

No, that is the correct link.

Is it a problem with the mod name? I have already renamed the folder to RFC Dawn of Civilization, but it still shows No module named Dawn_of_Civilization. Where else do I need to change the name?

There must be more wrong with your setup. That is not the correct background image.

Can confirm the failing spawns and that it seems to be related to the Aqua Appia error message. I was investigating these errors already, but I can't think of a way that they could interfere with spawns. Will look more into it.

Man, I read your instructions, switch back to beta on steam, but it doesn't work, your action link is broken, is that so?

Now that it's solved, I may have failed to switch, so I found a non-steam version that works perfectly fine. Can you post another tutorial?

I'm unsure what you mean. You have a non-steam version of the game. So does it work now? What is the situation?

I successfully ran this mod using the non-steam version. So what I mean is that the steam version cannot run. It may be that I failed to switch to the beta version. I want to see the tutorial you posted on the first page on how to switch to the beta version, but the link cannot be opened.

I see, good to know that you can play the mod at least. I didn't write that tutorial, so if the link is broken I don't know an alternative.

And another weird one: My poor worker and his military escort keeps getting kicked off of this Iron tile (which I own) next to Rano, repeatedly, when I end the turn. "3 of our units have been expelled from Independent territory and withdrawn to Rano".
Yeah, this one really was confusing. A couple of things going wrong here: the thing that is supposed to happen is that Edo is being founded 1S of the Iron tile on this turn. Part of this process is to evict units from surrounding tiles to make the spawn possible, and to avoid having them bounced to random tiles (sometimes islands etc.) when this happens. However, the founding of Edo then fails because it cannot be founded on a jungle tile, but due to an oversight the preparatory steps are already executed before that check.

I think the features of the Niger Delta need to be adjusted so that this tile can actually be settled, and same for the Lagos tile. In turn, I think it should be the more southerly tiles of the delta that should be Jungle because those haven't been settled until colonial or modern times.

But I will also change the logic that evicts units to skip units that are on culturally controlled tiles - it is unlikely that a city spawn will cover their tile and having units moved from your own territory is too disruptive.

Loading Canada from 3000 BC on Monarch, Epic has caused this bug, and I was able to preserve the normally requested "Initial" Autosave. Very oddly, this does not fire every time. I was able to load Canada on Marathon, Regent -- just fine.
