Bug Reports

I was wondering if you could address a lan problem for me. I play about 80% of the time over a lan. Now anytime any of us on the lan attacks a barbarian or barbarian city the game goes out of sync. It gets kind of annoying as I can't take barb citys. It doesn't happen if the barbarian attacks me only when I attack the barbarians. I upgraded to .97b and it is still doing it. I have enhanced graphics and unristricted leaders on if that matters. Thanks!

Unfortunately the RevDCM 2.6 core seems to utterly break Multiplayer play. This is ironic since multiplayer is now on the list of things to do; ie the next update should support MP, so no more of these bugs (hopefully). RevDCM 2.7 isn't expected out till about New Years, so it'll be a while. Once it is, then LoR will be in a final release stage and will finally come out of beta, as that's really the only hot button issue left to resolve in this mod. Until then, best bet would be to revert back to the 0.9.6c build, and use that if multiplayer is important for you.

Added to known bugs list. Will fix shortly. I have working code for this section, and actually the recomended optimization caused this, should have double checked things. I'd rather use the optimized code, as it's much cleaner, so I'm going to wait for EF to see if he can figure out what caused it, if that doesn't work, I'll just revert to the working code and put it up in a patch.

OK, with some help from EF, the civilization scrolling issue is fixed. But I've found another minor bug in the ACO display, it fails to show the combat modifiers. Actually this is probably a major bug. Not sure why this happened, ACO always worked before, and was working just a few SVN releases before the official RevDCM 2.6 version LoR uses as it's core. Will track this down, and also further fine tune the free unit grant for high difficulties when start as minors is selected, and release it all as a patch in a day or two.

Phungus, has anyone in the RevDCM forums ever exspressed any interest in making the Rev effects scale with game difficulty?

could someone please help me figure this out? I really would love to play thins mod. I just need to figure out why I have no user interface in game. I know it has something to do with my file locations. anyone?

Be sure you launch as an admin. If you are dong that, the last time this was reported it was a "compatibility issue" where the user had defined the wrong "run as" mode for vista when playing civ. The post with relevant info can be found here:

Let me know if either of these work.

Browsing back a few pages to find that link for pdonettes I saw a couple random crash reports I ignored because they were random (not reproducible), and they were reported at the same time we figured out the Francis Leaderhead could cause crashes on some video cards. With Stagnate's reported crash that led us to finding an error in the LSystem (caused by Ethnic City Styles, this bug will be in all big mods, as they all use ethnic city styles), I'm not convinced those reports should be ignored. It's very possible one of them could lead to another LSystem problem. So if you do have a game that seemed to be unstable try this: Enter World Builder. If upon entering world builder it crashes, and this is reproducible please upload the save. It is most assuredly an LSystem bug if that's the case, and needs to be taken care of.

Should have looked into this. Yeah, it's the Spanish galleon actually. My computer it crashes when it tries to view it, but I was able to see that wierd pattern in your screenshot using a debug dll and viewing it in the civilopedia (otherwise it just CTDs). Achilleszero should I wait on a fixed model for this, or just use one from an old version of the mod?

Argh, Im an idiot. I put the fixed version in my game and then sent you the broken one. Heres is the correct one.

I'm having the same graphics bug as Meatbomb (post #449). Phungus420 and achilleszero said that there was something wrong with the spanish galleon that was causing the glitch, but I can't figure out what to do with the fix they posted. Can someone help me?

You need to download the newest version (0.9.7b), and reinstall. The fix is in the latest official release of LoR.

Edit: Found another bug. This is again a minor one, and is caused by BUG itself, so it's not even a RevDCM issue. I have reported it in BUG's bug reporting thread. The bug causes a python exception to be thrown when you view the top 5 cities page in the Info screen. Most users wol't see the error, because they don't have python exceptions on, and so might not notice, but the effect beyond an error message is that it doesn't generate a list of all the built Wonders of the World, as happens in default BtS. Hopefully EF will have a fix for this soon. I plan on releasing a 0.9.7c update in about a week with all the minor little fixes to the minor bugs I've been finding. Hopefully a 0.9.8test build will be available at that time as well.

Well, I reinstalled all that and followed those directions. still nada for HUD. Ihave been checking into it. I think it's the BUG mod.

Did you read the link I posted? Are you sure you haven't set Vista to run BtS in an alternate Windows configuration mode (for him it was launching BtS in a Windows 98 configuration)? That caused the bug for the last user that reported the same issue.

And yes, it's something in the BUG code that's causing the HUD not to display. But it's specific to your machine. Something in your hardware/software is not accepting the improved UI of the BUG mod, and that's impossible to fix, except on your end.

yeah. I honestly tried running ang installing in all kinds of different configurations. from what I have seen, it's not uncommon for people to have issues if they use an alternate location for their my documents folder, and frequently when using the BIG mod. My only issue is, I'm not good enough to fix it. My game is on my c:drive and my documents are on my K drive the thing is, I have 2 folders for my games and mods. one on C: and one on K:. What is perplexing to me is that Both of them are empty.
I heard something about the python folder causing problems, so I was gong to delete that. thing is, I don't have a python folder. so now I am really confused.

This mod will not let you install itself in the My documents path. It will only install in the Program Files path. right click on the uninstall shortcut it creates, select properties, and that'll give you the path to LoR, which will be inside the mods folder of your main BtS folder. Also do not delete your python folder, that will break things, and I guarantee it wol't fix anything.

Look I honestly don't know what to tell you. LoR checks to make sure it's in the right spot, by making sure it installs in the mod directory of the directory where the BtS .exe is, otherwise it wol't let you install. It also wol't load custom assets, so it's not effected by custom assets. The only two things I've seen that cause your problem is not launching as an admin, or launching the game under an inappropriate compatibility setting. Other then that I don't know what can do this.

I could ask to see your python error logs, but it's just going to tell me working code in CvMainInterface.py threw an exception, but the code will be fine, it'll just be that your computer isn't reading it correctly. Sorry, but I just don't know. :dunno:

I appreciate your quick response. I don't know what to say. I just know I have double and triple checked everything. I even uninstalled and reinstalled. I'm kinda perplexed right now. I looked, and the mod was where you said. I don't know where the interface is though. Mod looks awesome. just wish I could play it.

If I were you I'd download and install BUG as a mod. Then when you get this bug with the BUG mod, ask for help in that forum. BUG is run by a few professional programmers who might have a better idea about how to fix your problem. Remember to install as a mod, and not using the "standard" custom assets method (the BUG installer gives you an option when it firs runs).
