Bugs3 - The Sid Virgin Sacrifice

Agree on the FP next the Market. Not agree with keeping Reims for ever. It simply will steal too many tiles from both the capital and the FP city if we ever reach Hospitals. For that reason, I want the other city in distance 2. As long as Orleans, Reims and that city stay small, the can share the Hills nicely. Reims can focus likely on Military for a long time; once it needs to go, we don't loose a single tile.

I realize this now.. I actually tried to play the save, and delayed the completion of GLib with ONE turn.. result was that rome grabbed it in 710BC instead of us.. so it was very close
That's why I kept preaching to start the prebuild very early, no Settlers or units from Orleans ;)

This is also why I was in doubt we had time to build temple first and why I joined workers to orleans and consentrated on getting all the hills mined before roading them :)

As for Reims, I agree it should go if we get to hospitals. Untill then in adition to building military, it also has ok commerse since on a river, built on incense (when we disband it we have to make sure we have a spare incense that we are not trading away..) and low corruption.

Ok, my last statement on this :)

If we get hospitals, feel free to abandon it. But hospitals...wow, we have to live that long and then research one of the least needed techs in that aera (steam, industr, rep. parts, maybe nationalism and espionage...). Are you really planing a city location in BCs for the time of hospitals? We can grab the last tiles on our land without overlap if we place 1s. Let's not build a city now for a building we are not even sure we will ever research the tech for, lest even build one.

 actually, if I count correctly, 1 S would grab exactly 1 tile more.
Guess I'm mainly biased for moving Reims since I obsessively prefer SEA Civs, and anything not coastal looks like a mistake for me. ;)

Place the city where you want, it won't matter. But: Found on the Barb Camp first, otherwise corruption in our so-so cities will go up for nothing.

Good discussion team.

Orleans finish market, start FP.

Reims can stay in where it is.

Finish off the barbs and settle on barb hill before settling the other city east of Reims.

Make preparations to capture the AZT city on island.

Got it :)

So Doc you don't think we can ever self-research? Even with libraries, universities, markets, banks and Stock Exs? I guess that's why I'm a SID virgin. :crazyeye:

I've got it. Hopefully, I can get it turned around so our European team members can play Friday.

Pre-flight – 350 BC - Looks like we’re building up our military for an invasion. We’ll need a lot more galleys.

IBT – We learn Monarchy, Republic and Engineering.
Paris: MDI=>MDI
Dijon: Worker=>harbor (fishing village)

330 BC – I revolt and we get 8 turns of anarchy.

Early - Egypt declares on the Dutch
Send a curragh on a suicide mission and lose it.
Portugal and Rome sign a treaty.

Middle – Portugal and the Dutch sign a treaty
Caesar demands Monarchy. I give it to him.
The Dutch start Leo’s

Late - Monotheism and invention comes in.
We become a republic.
Our income takes a nice bump, we’re at 52 gpt.
Portuguese build Sun-Tzu’s

After Action – Not much. I think the thing I need to get used to at this level is the pace of advancement.

Save: http://www.civfanatics.net/uploads8/Bugs3,_150_BC.SAV

Roster:
Ankka – Up
GRS – On deck
Gyathaar
Doc
Gator
Bugs – Just Played

Argh. I'm up here too. And I won't be able to play until Sunday. Would a swap be possible?

Early & Middle: Build pikes % MDI's. Dutch complete Leo's. Build terrain improvements. Basic stuff.

Late: We get Chivalry from the GLib. Start on a knight in Paris. Why doesnt the AI research gunpowder? Income 60+gpt.

Basicly, nothing happened.

Save to next better player.

Some thoughts:

We still don't have contact with Persia and Egypt and only have one galley (which is in a harbor btw)?

Is there a specific use of the reg warriors we still have? I guess we don't want to upgrade them, do we?

The Great Library will not last much longer, so I think we need to attack someone and do it fast. We miss galleys and knights while we have 6 pikes and 2 spears (6 vets) we could upgrade to muskets. Who will be our target? The Aztechs? They have a nice row of 4 cities where we could land on hills and mountains while all 4 cities are without def bonus (from territory). They also have wines and dyes there and they are without horses and iron! That is an invitation we should take very soon, isn't it?

Sounds like a good target. We should get them before one of the other AI civs do.

I like the idea of war with the Aztecs. They also have two cities to the north just across from our island to the east.

The problem is that we'll need loads of troops to matvh the amount they will have. Even if they only have spears, they'll have a lot of them. Just go read some other Sid SG's if you like.
